Tokyo Disneyland Resort Expansion

Moana is probably one of the better suited movies for TDS, it would be a huge missed opportunity to put her in Adventureland
Fantasy Springs should’ve been a Moana land. It would’ve fit the ocean theme and it would’ve been all original. TDR already has a Peter Pan ride in TDL, and Frozen has gotten dark rides in the past. Tangled is really the only original ride and even then it’s super short and barebones. It’s a beautiful looking land but doesn’t do much truly “new”

All 4 FS rides are completely unique to TDS

Having the same IP elsewhere doesn't change that

And all for what looks like a pretty simple C-ticket boat ride. If they were going to add Moana in Adventureland, it should have been the anchor. But maybe this won't preclude OLC from adding Moana at TDS too. They didn't have a problem with Peter Pan rides being in both parks.

Or maybe they're planning on getting rid of the classic Peter Pan...

So i read the report, one caught my eye is the statement they said.

The visuals for the area renovation are only posted as an example of what is currently being planned, and nothing has been finalized.
Therefore, it is not included in the 1 trillion yen cash allocation.
Got it - so knowing our luck, we'll get incredicoaster in adventure land and not get the super cool victorian dark ride added to port discovery :(

I mean, fair, but that's like saying TDL's Enchanted Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, and Western River Railroad are all completely unique to TDL because they're different from other versions of the attractions, even if their same IP is somewhere else.

Personally, if you have two parks next to each other, I think you should avoid doubling up on any IP that isn't Mickey Mouse. At the very least, Peter Pan should've been swapped with Moana or something else.

I would assume that dark ride would've been IP anyways. I think people were saying Doctor Strange? Which personally makes no sense when there's a New York section of the park already. Why put the NYC-based superhero in a made-up land instead of the NYC/America area?

Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise the essentially the same experience all around the world, with minor differences (that the regular guest wouldn't even notice)

Saying Peter Pan's Flight and Peter Pan's Neverland Adventure are the same ride is like saying Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance are the same ride

I don’t think that was the OP’s point.

They are saying using the same IP in two different parks that are right next to each other doesn’t make sense if something more theme appropriate like Moana could have taken its place.

Yeah - the Dr Strange thing was just because of the fountains coming out though, right?

Please allow me to stay in my delusions of having a victorian themed water themed non-IP dark ride from the mind of Tony Baxter

They had the chance to add IP to Soarin' and the new Space Mountain but didn't, so maybe there's still a glimmer of hope. Granted, creating a brand-new, non-IP ride from scratch isn't something they've done in a very long time.

I think the proposal is for the American Waterfront to expand and take over Cape Cod and the Aquatopia.

The last brand new, non-IP attraction I can think of is Roaring Rapids in Shanghai, which opened in 2016. The last one domestic was Expedition Everest in 2006.
