they need to bring back the crystal fountain as well!!!

to me the fountain as it is now is merely a waste of space :lookaroun

i know it isnt directly part of SSE but its close enough to it and to me that in front of SSE made the greatest photo op in all of WDW

Agreed, agreed. It looks naked without it, especially since the LaL advertisement directly behind it on the mirrored column has been removed.

Though, of course, a new and unique design (similar to the old one, but perhaps with some sort of video or lighting technology incorporated into it) would be just as welcome. ;)

What fountain are you guys talking about. I don't really remember SSE before 2000. Do you have a picture of it you could post?

This is the only one I could find so far...

Can't really see the fountain, just the crystal coming out of it with the original logo on them.

Original concept art (early 80s) included one very tall prism with the EPCOT "lotus" logo on it, surrounded by shorter prisms each bearing a pavilion logo.

The prisms were sold. Replicas could possibly be made, but I'd rather see something new and improved.

Thanks for the picture. It's amazing how different the area looks without tombstones. I finaly understand why you guys hate those things so much.

I still don't hate them. I wouldn't miss them, but they really don't bother me.

The stupid sticker on the legs of spaceship earth that blend them into the structure, that I mind.

I agree. I appreciate that they were trying to add some cohesiveness, but, man, it just looks bad.

I think the entire area could be solved fairly simply. Rip out about the last three rows of stones (having them as a gateway of sorts isn't too bad). Spruce up the left over ones with some LED lighted lucite and/or plant life and/or water features. Replant the area. Then add a new Epcot statute. I personally would put my vote for two lucite prism towers and a modern statute of a child deemed "Tomorrow's Child". Have it reaching up to a lighted star just out of its hand, and have a plaque that reworks the lyrics of the song into a statement piece regarding the spirit of innovation and shared culture. (i.e. "Tomorrow's Child gathers gifts from our past to shape a lasting world. Tomorrow's Child lights the path as we're going, seeing that knowledge keeps growing. Together, we are reaching for hope and desire. May the spirit of innovation inspire you... For the future world is born today".) So many possibilities. Cool new idea that is both more youthful and fun but still looks back to the roots. But, that's me! :D

The Leave a Legacy tombstones that look so much like a graveyard and block the entrance to EPCOT, and spoil what could be nice landscaping, could be rearranged easily.

Instead of having them in rows which are perpendicular across the entrance way, move them over to the side in a single row along the right side of the entry plaza.

Or re-landscape the area with plants and scatter the legacy stones individually inside the landscaping, along with the plants, like they are visual focal points in the bushes. Many gardeners do that with garden statues and benches and large pots.

It would not cost much at all to eliminate that awful current graveyard look while keeping the stones for those who have memories on them.
