To those couples who go to Disney...

Romance is alive and well all over WDW.

Catch dinner and movie at the Sci-Fi Drive-in at MGM.

I think I'm gonna have to warn against this one. We strolled in without reservations, and the 2 of us were placed in the back seat of a car with a family of 4 in front of us. That family's DS insisted on dipping his fingers in my milkshake as soon as his parents weren't paying attention.

So, if you're interested in possibly sharing you romantic evening with others, Sci-Fi may be your pick ;)

Enjoy,

My fiance and I are DVC members and usually average at least 2 Disney visits a year. Its been about 3-4 short visits per year the past couple of years.
80% of these visits are just the 2 of us, and although we are Disney nuts we never feel out of place or wierd without having kids.

There are so many things at Disney that a couple can do just like any other nice vacation resort. Great pools, dining, resorts, restaurants, nightlife, shopping, etc.
We just got back this Monday. We were there from 9/7-9/11, for the NOJ concerts and planning our wedding! Of course Disney is Romantic thats why its one of the top honeymoon destinations in the world. Its just that most people dont think of it as romantic. Heck most people think of it as an :fork: Amusement Park!!:fork: But thats better for us!! Believe me our wedding is going to be very elegant/romantic...with just a small bit of Disney flair!.(It better be for all this $$$$ ) But thats for a later post in December after the big event.

I have no personal stake in this but I use this book all the time in helping planning ideas for the 2 of us. I think its well worth the cost. "Disney World for Couples"....here is a link

http://www.amazon.com/Walt-Disney-W...=pd_bbs_1/104-4039960-3507119?ie=UTF8&s=books

It breaks out everything with a slant towards romance and what is good for couples. Get it before you leave and take their advice!

Am I the only one who occassionally feels a bit weird about indulging in er..'more adult pursuits' in WDW. Everywhere you look it just feels like a kids place, and somehow I just feel a bit uncomfortable sometimes. And no, don't panic, I'm not talking about in the parks!

 We're usually too stiff & sore OR we're asleep by the time our heads hit the pillows.

Heh heh...that sounds like how our wedding was! We had very classy Mickey and Minnie invitations and I think some people were scared it would be Disney themed. But boy were they wrong...

For each of our three trips together, my GF and I always made sure to have one dinner at the Rose And Crown, outside, timed so we could see the fireworks. The last time we went, I popped the question. Soooo, I guess you could say we find it romantic.

If you can carry a tune (or even if you can't, but don't mind trying), the Swan has a sushi bar, Kimono's, that also does karaoke. Singing to your loved one can be a bit corny, but if you can't be corny at WDW, where CAN you be? The lounge, on the other hand, is beautiful, and if sushi is your thing, then you got yourself a romantic escapade AND dinner for the night. The only potential wild card is, as always, other people. Get a couple of preteen drama queens trying to outbelt each other, or a family complete with young'uns who hate sushi or the non-Disneyish atmosphere and want to make sure everyone around knows it, and then you got troubles.

La Nouba is an incredible show that is also very un-Disney like. More enchanting and enthralling than romantic, but quite often, those three feelings go hand in hand...in hand (?) Don't they?

If Cali Grill is out of your budget, try going to Ohana's and try to arrange a table that oversees the castle, and time it for the fireworks.

Have dinner at AKL, and take some time to look at the animals in the private fauz-savannahs.

And, depending on your resort's room service options, a little breakfast-in-bed never hurt anybody...except maybe those shut-ins who go past 800 lbs and can't leave their bed. Try not to think of those people while enjoying your morning meal.

Getting Engaged there

I took my girlfriend there 3 years ago this week. I knew all along I was going to propose to her there, but I wasn't sure how to do it.

We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and had reserved the standard room. I sent my GF to wander while I checked us in. I mentioned to the CM behind the desk, I was going to be proposing that week and wondered if they could "hook me up" with a better room. The CM asked to see the ring, to prove I wasn't lying. I happened to have the box in my pocket, so my GF wouldn't find it in the luggage when we unpacked. As soon as I pulled it out, 3 other CMs behind the desk came running to see it, and one of them started crying. Needless to say, I got the hook up on a sweet suite at my original rate.

One night I made us reservations to eat in Cinderellas Castle. The plan was to pop the question there, but it didn't feel right. So we left right before the fireworks started and found a great place right next to the castle. As the fireworks were going off I pulled out the ring and popped the question. It was such a great moment. Looking back on it, it might have been a little cheesy, but it definitely is a great memory.:king:

I'm going to WDW with my girlfriend in January for our 2 year anniversary and I'm wondering where the best places to be "romantic" are, if you know what I mean...Care to share experiences?

I guess no one gets what you mean..."Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge". Listing those types of places and ideas probably isn't appropriate. Congratulations on your 2 year, our 10 year wedding anniversary is this January. Is she your girlfriend or wife.
