To Open or Not To Open (Timekeeper)

Recent reports indicated that Timekeeper at the Magic Kingdom was set to re-open while other attractions underwent rehabs. This was supposed to happen last Sunday (August 19th.)

According to a info operator for WDW, she stated (after putting me on hold and asking someone else) that this was simply a rumor. She probably had no idea what's going on, and who knows about her "source."

I would appreciate it if someone could find out for certain whether or not Timekeeper is open or will open. WDW info can be contacted at (407) 824-4321. I could make the drive, but it's not exatly next door.

If it *is* open, I should probably show up for work, seeing as how the show does not happen without me. And here I was, looking for a new home.

It has reopened, but effective Sept. 23, TK is out, and Buzz Lightyear is in for meets.

Here we go again!

Okay,

There's good news and there's bad news.

The bad news is:

I have to return to work.

The good news is:

I HAVE TO RETURN TO WORK!!!

Yes, "Timekeeper" is in fact re-open (temporarily.) The key word here is "temporarily." I know there are a lot of big fans of my show out there, so now is the time! (Pun intended.)

If you could go back in time (and with me you can), what would you have done differently had you known "Horizons" was going to close down in 3 weeks? Probably visit Horizons every day! So please, anyone that can, come to my show and document, document, document! Take pictures, shoot video, and take pictures again. Do it for yourself, do it for me, do it for the fans, and especially those who can't be here in the next 3 weeks.

I'm a big fan of the show. Maybe it has something to do with me being the star ...maybe. Okay, so 9Eye is part of the show too, and if she'd quit hovering over my shoulder I wouldn't have to mention that. Anyway, I'd love to collect as much media (video, pictures, anything) from you fans out there and compile them onto a "Remember Timekeeper" DVD (which could then be re-distributed to those fans.) Besides being a timetraveler I'm also a "professional" video editor, and would love to put this new DVD-R drive to good use. (Needless to say - the quality is excellent.)

Of course, this is all just an idea. And I understand that not all of your are fans of my show (sniffle, sniffle.) But I know that I'd like something to look back on, and wish I had one for other retired WDW attractions.

Let me know what you think.

9Eye just had an idea (which doesn't happen often.) She suggested that we call the digital scrapbook "Remember Timekeeper *and* 9Eye." All those in favor, say "eye."

(silence)

...okay, so "Remember Timekeeper" it is.

The red-digital clock thingie at the entrance doors say that the show is supposed to begin in 2 minutes. What do you think that means? Maybe I should go find out.

And to the genius that asked if I can swim, of course I can! I just say "go go timekeeper scuba gear." Or maybe it's something else. I forget. I try to stay away from water. Ever since the accident...

Going down on Sept 1.

Is the request for raw footage serious, pictures and Video, etc.

I should be able to take some Picts and Raw Footage (Hi8 Sony) if there is a real request out there..... It would be neat to have some documentation of a "closed attraction"....

Just let me know...

be advised though, the cast has been told to stop filming and picture taking throughout the show.

Sounds like I'll have to do the James Bond Thing, and cut a hole in my $45.00 Mickey Bag, for a Camera Lens to get the Footage! :)

The hard part is going to be having to stand through the show 9 times (One for Each Eye), to get all the perspectives :D

I am entirely serious. Too often we Disney fans are shocked by the closing of an attraction ...after it's too late. This time we have a chance.

Although I pride myself in being a good videographer, I don't see how you could record each individual square screen ...using a "hidden" camera at that. If you can manage, then by all means, do so.

If that's stretching it, just focus on Timekeeper (me) so we get at least 1 continous clean shot of the entire show. Although I typically use mini-DV, High-8 or Digital-8 will transfer just as easily. Exposure can be tricky inside, so set that up ahead of time.

Anyone that has footage (or any recorded media) and would be willing to contribute it, please let me know - and stay tuned to this board. I will be reminding everyone of this little "project" throughout the near future, particularly as TK comes to a close. Sniffle, sniffle.

And one more thing - technically you're not supposed to record inside. (Heck, technically you're not supposed to drive over 50mph on the interstate when the speed limit is 50mph.) So your best bet it to be subtle ...or foreign. Keep a Japanese (or your preference) Park Guide Map with you. If a cast member happens to say anything - look at them like you have no idea what they're talking about. Then, reach into your pocket and pull out your Constantinopolian park guide, and shrug as though you have no idea what they're saying to you. If they continue to try and get you to understand, look really offended, pull out a pen, and write their name (as shown on their i.d. pin) on a piece of paper. Make sure they see you doing this. Then, walk away shaking your head as though you've never seen such rudeness.

Just an idea.

Thats a great idea. I may use it when I get yelled at for trying to film every ride at Universal...se Hablar Espanol???

Sorry, but I probably won't be able to film Timekeeper. I only have one annual pass to either Universal or Disney at a time, and right now it's Universals turn. Hopefully, Timekeeper will do so well during the three weeks that it's open with every show so packed, Disney will decide to keep it open for an extended amount of time!

Hey Timekeeper.... I couldn't locate the sarcastic face when I mentioned the 9 times (Yikes).... But I am serious about getting the time keeper.... I'll see how many times I can get to it while we are there.... If I can, I'll try two exposures.... one letting the camera apply gain, and one, overiding the gain, and letting the camera run @ 0 gain, full iris....

Can't imagine why they could possible say something about videotaping without lights (and I'll turn off the REC light too (Sony's can do that).

If I'm successfull, I'll let you know upon my return...

Como Se Yama.... Disney Stockholder...... I'll claim my stocks cover ownership of the 1 foot square I'll be standing on while videotaping :D

And then the CM will claim ownership of the attraction due to his stocks..

ok.. that's the most asinine thing I've heard. First off, most CM's don't even wear a nametag w/ their real name on it (I never did anyways.. I was usually a 6 foot tall blond guy name Alganesh). Secondly, if you pull that crap, they have a phone to contact a foreign language CM at whim. When the CM find out that you're full of it they'll kick you out.

If you get caught, just stop filming and go back for another show and try again.

Hmmmm how many times has a CM gotten a Guest kicked out of a park cause they were videotaping on a non-moving attraction? Hmmmmm I guess if the light was on in a dark ride maybe.....

I'll have to ask one of the Area Managers about that on my next trip.... I mean I've personally witnessed foreigners get in free (no handstamp and now ticket) through the front gates... guess the Foreign language CMs were kinda busy that day....

Of course I was kinda bristling at that one (just after purchasing 3 APs for that trip).

the guest cannot get kicked ou on that alone, but the if them CM finds out that the guest was BS'ing him, then the guest can be escorted out of the ride and made to wait again (which on TK, isn't really a punishment).

And as for the foreign language CM's, they are available 24hrs a day.. there's just no phones at the main entrance.

And if the foreigners were w/ a tour groups, concessions are made.. but they still pay to get in.

And not to be an , but if you are a stockholder, and you have an AP, that doesn't mean a thing to most CM's. I guarantee you there are at least 5 other peple w/ AP's and Disney stock. And the CM is most likely a stockholder too (and most of the time has more shares that the guest)
