To be, or not to be AP codes for fall?

I was excited to read about AP codes coming for September thru December in "News and Rumors," but was kinda skeptical so I just called CRO. The nice CM said she was not aware of any pending discounts for AP holders any time soon for the values, but told me to read my newsletter for August. Well, I told her I've read the MM online and there are no general AP discounts for the value resorts. She then said AP discounts are possible if reservation levels are not what they expect for the period. However, the number of rooms is limited at a discount rate, unless you have an existing reservation. I expressed to her my frustration with the whole AP discount program and she said the program is always changing and she hears that many times per day. It makes her job very difficult at times trying to explain to guests.

So my fellow Magicians I guess this AP code thing is not what I thought it would be when I shelled out my $800US for 2 AP's last December.

I wouldnt give up all hope on this just yet. I do tend to agree with the CM you spoke with as to if AP rates are released and if so how many rooms are put into that rate per resort!!! If they already have the attendance why discount the rooms?? On the other hand, if a room is going to go empty why not discount it to fill the resort and not lose money?? To discount or not to discount that is the question, whether tis nobler in the mind..... sorry got caught on the Shakespeare reference!!! LOL LOL Belle

I bought my AP because it will save me money on admission. But I was counting on a nice room discount too.

I feel irritated about the email codes for $49 through Dec. but nothing for AP.

I guess I will just continue to wait - impatiently.

I get a feeling (won't say where) that the e-mail threads about $49 rooms are trying to rub salt in wounds in some ways. I am sure there is some envy of AP holders. The majority of persons can't come up with $400 or $800 for AP passes when you have to pay your other bills. My wife and I are not rich by any stretch of the imagination, and buying two AP's was a big hit on our budget. My frustration was that I too got caught up in the "promise" of great discounts, but like most things that are too good to be true, I did not read the fine print so to speak. Not to fault Disney, they are a business first and foremost. They are just like the airlines. On any given day someone may be flying for $100 and the person next to them paid $300--whatever the market will bear. My greatest dream is to stay at the Contemporary for even one night, but my wife thinks it is a waste of money. I guess you have to thank Disney for at least having Value and Moderate resorts on property. In the old days the Deluxe was the only way to go for a long time. That's why our family had to go the 192 route, and even stayed in Clermont once to save money.
