Pre-Trip To BC or not to BC; that is the question.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!! :):D:):D

That time when my trip planning actually moves from the hypothetical to the reality. I got my DH to commit that next September we will be returning to WDW. He wants to change things up a bit, though. Normally we go Saturday to Saturday. But, this time he wants to do Thursday to Thursday. Why? Because he will only miss 1 football game that way (Go Huskers!! ;)), and because then we'll take the Friday after we arrive home off of work so that gives us an extra day to unpack, relax, etc. before jumping back into the chaos of our jobs the following Monday. Gotta give props to my DH for this scheme!

He also wants to switch up hotels. I'm a creature of habit. Once I like something, I rarely venture out. For example, I love love love spaghetti and marinara. Every Italian restaurant I go to I order it. People chastise me to not trying new things, and maybe they're right. But, I don't see any reason to try something else when I already know what I like.

So - what do I like? WL. I like everything about it. The serenity, the boat to MK, the quaintness. What does he want to do? BC. He likes the proximity to Epcot and DHS, he likes the pool, he likes the character breakfast.

I've researched and researched, and it sounds like BC is pretty highly thought of by most WDW fans. But, I'm still a bit hesitant.

So, that's where I'm at. Haven't hit the "Book now" button yet because I want to feel pretty confident about this decision before I do. But, probably will soon!!

Along with that, I have to start thinking about ADRs. I know I'm a ways out, but switching from an MK resort to an Epcot resort throws my typical ADR locations out of whack a bit. Maybe we'll finally make the trek to AKL for dinner - won't be that far away from BC??

I'm going to either BC or WL in

Okay...So after looking through all of the different dining options over by BC, I'm 100% convinced that we need to give this a try. I honestly think this will be a completely different WDW than what we're used to, and I think we're ready for that. In fact, I'm not sure that we'll repeat more than 1 or 2 restaurants from our prior trips.:eek:;)

So, BC it is. Now - gotta lock in the exact dates and then I think we're good to go for booking! Wondering whether we do 8 days/7 nights and throw in a day with a 2-park pass at Uni/IOA? I think we could do that since DHS will be pretty empty at that point. And, with it being so close to BC, we won't have to deal with the travel time to and from like we did at WL. :)

Or... do we just go 6 days/7 nights and skip Uni/IOA???

We are trying the BC for the first time in March. The rooms have all been very recently renovated. Typically, we are a CR family but we have stayed at The WL (2X), the Poly, Riverside, AKL and off site. I am so excited about staying at the BC this trip. The pool looks incredible but that is not why we are staying there.....not much of a pool person. We are going during the Flower and Garden Festival and we will be spending 3 days in Epcot, 1 in the MK and 1 in the AK. Not a fan of HS so it is not in our plans. Eating at the Captain's Grill at the YC and then mostly Epcot restaurants except BOG. SO very exciting to try new resorts. I am sure that you will love the BC.... I will post after or trip with reviews. :cat:

IMO, if you've never experienced Potterville then go for it, otherwise stay in the bubble. FWIW, I've been know to hold prejudice for WDW so my opinion my be biased. ;):D
Actually now I am considering just going to blizzard Beach that day and staying on property??? I'm not sure my kids would get a lot outta Uni? Theyre not old enough to enjoy roller coasters and they've never read any Harry Potter books– so there's only a few rides or characters that they even know or would be willing to do…Do you think it's worth it??

Storm-along-Bay at BC is like a mini-water park. I'm guessing if your kids like the pool you will spend a lot of time there. We did so much so that the 2nd time we stayed at BC we dropped the water parks. Peaches and Cream is right by the pool and if you are getting the meal plan, the ice-cream cones are considered a "snack". At least they used to be.

The CM entertainment every afternoon at the pool is great for kids. Fun games, music and dancing. I found it to be run much better than the pool at the Poly. They had a way of getting everyone involved. The pirate ship "jib" slide was also a big hit with my kids as was the sand bottom and lazy river. Just be warned - parts of the lazy river can get pretty deep. Overall, it's the best pool on property and I don't think there is a close second.

Again, I think everyone should experience it once for themselves but we've had our fill of it after one visit to Potter World. Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon would be an enjoyable option for your crew OR check out a tour that the family could enjoy.
