TIW - Help me with some questions?

Okay, so DH and I are going back and forth about buying AP's this summer. We'll use them this summer, possibly fall break, and again in December, possibly January and then Spring Break next year.

Anyway, I'm just wondering about Tables in Wonderland. I understand how much it costs, but do you usually get 20% off most places in WDW? The Disney site makes it sound like you usually get 10% off and there are just a very few places where you get 20% off. (I'm assuming they word it this way so they don't get any complaints like "but your website said.....")

Mostly, I'm thinking about our trip in December. It is a Grand Gathering, currently we have the DDP (1 TS, 1 CS, 1S). Here are the places we are making ADR's (or going to try to make ADR's :))

Poly Spirit of Aloha
Crystal Palace
CRT
Garden Grill
1900 Park Fare
50s Prime Time
Hoop De Doo

Do you get 20% at any of these places? All of them?

This info will help with the AP decision.

Thanks in advance!

Not old, just vintage.
TiW will get you 20% off at all participating locations. Alcohol is included in the discount as well. When you use the card 18% gratuity is automatically included. It should also be noted that although you can use the card for up to 9 people you are supposed to use one form of payment for the entire order. Sometimes you will find a CM willing to take more than one form of payment, but they are far and few between.

Your AP will get you a 10% discount and a few locations and 20% at even fewer locations. There are many restrictions as to the day of the week and time of day that the discount can be used. An AP discount doesn't cover alcohol and gratuity is not automatically added. Also, an AP will only cover 3 additional people.

If you are going to go multiple times and not get the DDP, go with the TiW card. It will pay for itself pretty quickly if you always travel with a large group.

I was wondering about this. Only the December trip will be with other people. BUT on the December trip, the other 8 people will be on the DDP. If I make the ADR for Hoop De Doo for 12 (for example) can the others pay with their DDP (KtTW card?) and I pay with cash/ TIW discount?

Yes. You can request billing for the various people based on the way they intend to pay. Everybody from each room that's on ddp can get a separate bill and those paying cash as well. The TiW discount will only apply to the bill of the cardholder, including whomever is on the same bill.

EDIT: Because HDD is a pre-paid meal [you pay by credit card when you're booking], it works a bit differently. When you book, you need to let them know how many of the party are going to be using DDP. They will use the credit card info to bill those only if they are no-shows. If you're using TiW, it only applies to the late seating [9:30 PM only - offered seasonally], you'll have to pre-pay based on the discount and then show the card when you're there.

Is this still the case with HDD? I have TiW and the latest show the day I am going (April 18, 2016) is 8:30pm. Can I book it online and does it qualify for the discount or should I call? Do I get issued a refund when I present my card or if I call can they adjust for the discount?

If I have to cancel this a week or two or even a month before the date do I get a refund?

Sorry, 9:30PM was a typo, the late show is 8:30PM. TiW applies for the Late show only, but it's been ages since I last booked it, I don't remember how that works.
