Tips for doing WDW while pregnant

Hi everyone,

I announced a few weeks ago that my DH and I are expecting a baby! After almost 4 years of fertility treatments, our dream is coming to! We are over 12 weeks now, still praying for a healthy happy pregnancy and that everything goes well, but now that I am out of the first 12 weeks, its time to start planning!

My DH and I are still going to WDW in Feb but rather then running the Disney Princess Half Marathon, we are going to a gender reveal! To see the pre-trip report: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/...-im-going-to-be-a-mom-pre-trip-report.876170/

The planning this time around is going to be very different. I will be 25 weeks along when we arrive. I should be feeling good in my 2nd trimester but I know I have major limitations and this is going to change how we normally do Disney.

I am looking for some tips, things to know, must do's, must don'ts, etc for doing WDW while pregnant.

Specifically:

list of rides to avoid and what is safe (I have googled this and I am on the conservative side so I won't be pushing the limits)

shoes - my feet are a disaster after a normal trip! I don't want to wear sneakers every day so something cute but functional and comfortable.

how to stay hydrated? I currently have a 52 ounce cup I carry around with me but I can't carry that around Disney World.

some hidden gems to see and do since we won't be focusing on the rides as much.

Thank you all for your tips and suggestions!

Many congratulations...my road to motherhood was not unlike yours - so even though we are total strangers and I have only lurked on your previous trippies...I cried a bit for you when I read your news. I'm such a saddo!

Tips: Usually I consider Birkenstocks ugly enough to be used as birth control, but...they make adorable Disney ones and they were terrific for this mummy's pregnant feet. I love Crocs in the house, I like Mickey Mouse Crocs on my kid - but even pregnant, I wasn't wearing Crocs in public!;) Like you I always wear a dress and the Birkies (I chose sandals with backstraps) went pretty well, were cool to wear and gave lots of support.

The pillow thing. By 25 weeks I needed 4 pillows to sleep. Lots of ladies I know (myself included) used a pillow between the knees during pregnancy to help with hip pain (exacerbated by lots of walking), and a couple others tucked around helped too. When I holidayed while pregnant, I always chucked a couple of extra pillows in the car and a couple of brightly-coloured pillowcases as well. I'm a bit twitchy about hotel linens and I just put the hotel pillows in my coloured cases so I knew they'd be clean (well...).

And remember those iron-rich foods!

Have a fab time!

Thank you so much! This is such a great advice! I have never worn crocs or birks but I am going to be stopping by a walking store to try on a bunch of different styles. I heard back straps are the way to go bc you don't strain your toes which effects your shins. I hadn't even thought about the extra walking and hips! Oh my! Such great advice!

I'm still fighting major food aversions! Really struggling. So i'm talking to my doc about that on Monday when I see her.

Thanks again!!!! You are so sweet!

My wife did Disney for the 1st time while about the same place you will be in your pregnancy. She swears by the keen sandals and said they helped them. Looks like you got most of the tips I would have offered but I would add this as I didn't see it in a skim of the posts.

Go to downtown disney and get the bath bombs that the marathon runners use. They're magical and the people at the store will know which ones you mean when you ask this. You get like 3 for around $15 I think.

Garden grocer for water is a must and will save you money.

Thank you! We are driving this time so I am going to pack water but I have GG written down to use in the future! Ooooh .... we love the bath bombs! Can you get them at the White Basin at Grand Floridian too? Thanks!
