Tip for mousekeeping

I left three dollars a day until the very last day, after having a can of pringles stolen two days in a row. We started out with 3 cans. On Friday, we came back and found half a can gone. Saturday, we came back and found another half a can gone. I wasn't about to try for the third on Sunday, which was our last full day anyway. So, I put the "do not disturb" sign on the door and pocketed the three dollars that would have gone to mousekeeping that day. I figured that's the least she owed me for the pringles she either stole or carelessly threw away. I mean, how hard can it be to pick up a half empty can of pringles and know by the weight that there's still something in there? :brick:

I always leave $5.00.
I have never had anything stolen. I am sure someone smarter than I can confirm, but I don't think you are guaranteed to have the same Mousekeeper every day.

Same here, about $5/day for the 4 of us. I try to keep the room neat, but hey, I have kids.

There has only been one trip that we had the same mousekeeper each day so always leave it daily.

We also have never had anything stolen and we take computers and mp3 players, etc with us. Just put away the stuff you don't want anybody to touch. Heck, we've even left money on the desk and nobody even moved it.

$3 a day unless they go above and beyond then I'd leave more. I usually just leave it when we check out, not each day specifically. Also if anything were ever eaten or stolen form my room, I would leave less if I left anything at all.

I usually leave $2 but it's just the two of us, and we keep the room very neat.. The odd day where we kept the do not disturb sign up, the next day I'd give mousekeeping more..

Question on the subject, some people say they leave more if they go above and beyond, but don't you leave the tip before you know what they're going to do to your room? They may or may not do a good job, they may or may not give you a towel animal. Am I missing something?

My bf and I left 2 dollars a day, no matter what happened. We did get a towel animal that we saw when we got there that night, but we didnt tip extra the next day because it could be another housekeeper the next day, right?

I left a tip but I was pretty annoyed when at 8:30am they were POUNDING on my door after I had been up until 2:00am ... I didn't say anything at the time but it was awful.

I keep a tidy room, my sister and her family make fun of me for packing a clothes hamper! (Bongo bag). We generally tip a few dollars each day, with the exception of Christmas day. On Christmas Day we tip $20. We appreciate the fact that they are working on Christmas Day to make sure we have a clean room and a great stay.

We tend to leave $2 to $3 daily for mousekeeping. Just be sure that you put it in an envelope that clearly states the words "For Mousekeeping" or something along those lines so they know who it is for, and that the envelope is in clear view where it will easily be noticed (on the edge of the bed or on the table). And you should tip daily as it will most likely be a different mousekeeper each day.
