But a British site all the same. So your right to do and say what you want is not guaranteed here.

This is NOT a democracy, this is a privately run website.

You MUST abide by the rules here.

If this site wants to be held to a higher standard, then so be it.

If this site wants to continue to bash people because of their age, race, sax/orientation, weight then so be it also.

We do not make the rules. This is NOT America.
Just an FYI........ the "www" portion of www.wdwmagic.com stands for WORLD wide web.

I have nothing against any "type" of person.

If this thread was started because of the motivational poster about the Deluxe Dining Plan then in my opinion it is misdirected. What I saw was a humorous poke at the sheer volume of food one would consume if one could actually eat all that is available on that plan. So regardless of other potential and valid reasons for becoming overweight or obese, the intent of the humour was that one would get fat eating on the Deluxe Dining Plan.

Molehill = mountain IMO. :shrug:

There are bigger issues to argue...

I agree. Your point is....? This is a privately run forum, and we are all invited guests, as it were. Our "host' has certain expectations for our behavior, and if we "misbehave" we will be asked to stop, or else leave. The first amendment means that the GOVERNMENT (except under very specific situations) cannot abridge your right to free speech. It does not apply to private companies or people. Most of us learned that the hard way when we made the mistake of speaking freely to a parent.

The reason for having rules is to try to make everyone posting as comfortable as possible, whenever possible, but still allowing for difference of opinion and interesting, informative discussion. But guests are not allowed to insult other guests, start nasty arguments, or attack others.

It's not an easy task, but the fact that this website has been running for over ten years is a testament to the owner's patience.

I do apologize if I misunderstood the intent of your original post. It just struck a nerve with me. I have tried to be patient and tried to "turn the other cheek" as it were and just chalk it up to "it's a joke". However, where do we draw the line in what we believe in? When do we finally stand up if we feel something is wrong.

I am not saying this is the case with you but too often we use the term "it's just a joke" to avoid accepting responsibility for hurting someone else's feelings. I just can't stand by and not say anything anymore. I feel VERY strongly that humor at someone else's expense is wrong, regardless of the subject.

It's one thing to tell jokes amongst friends. This, however, is more public forum than private hang out. It just comes across as very callous and very hurtful to read some of these posts about "fat people". My original intent of this thread was to try and open up some eyes to the fact, not all fat people are fat because of poor choices.

My anger for this, again, comes from seeing too many threads I enjoy turning into a "bash the fat person" thread. I know I have not been here that long but it seems it happens too often. If I stared typing racists posts, or posts against certain sexual orientations, I would be flamed off the board. It rightly so because it would be considered offensive. Why then, if I am equally offended by all the fat jokes, am I wrong? It seems to me, that ANY joke at someone else's expense should be considered wrong.

First, it wasn't my original post... You responded to my first post on the matter.

And you've missed my point entirely. The "Motivational Poster" that appears to have inspired you to start this thread is humour directed at the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan, not at fat people.

That's all we can really do right? We can't police other peoples thoughts and actions, their behavior is their responsibility.
