Tiki Room .... sad

Couple of things there...I will agree that it is pretty early for a large crowd to be anywhere, but at that time people are running all over to gather FP's and ride the popular rides before the crowds arrive, usually around 10:30 when the park starts to fill.

Thats a really good point. I usually run straight to Splash Mountain!

Actually, the 2 shows are in one building! Tiki Room is housed in the "front" and Country Bears in the "back". Yes, they are in 2 different lands, but they are in the same building. (even though it doesn't seem like it to parkgoers- it's not like they can go from one to the other by going through a doorway or anything).

I will take your word for that, and if true...I stand corrected. Sorry!

When we went in April it was pretty full, but it was around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. It's an ok show, it is only a must do for us because DD4 loves it.

I never hit Tiki until later in the day. Seems like a waste of a short line when I want to hit other attractions that get longer lines later in the day before they get long. You hit that thing at 2:00PM on a summer afternoon and it will be close to full. That is one of the reasons it use to have the reduced hours with a delayed open.

The Tiki Room is awesome, I adore it, it's proper Disney magic at its best, BUT I would never think of riding it at 9:45 am, that's Splash Mountain time that is!

Last time we were in WDW (Sept 2011) all the shows we saw were fairly full, at least 3/4

I start in Adventure Land do the park from the left.

Done the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean .... the well the Tiki Room.
Why not, two cast members standing outside it was about 9:45am and the said I was the first guest.

Sad.....

So I enter anyway sat where ever I felt like sitting and ...... I was the only guest.

Sad.....

Me and the cast member, she stayed in the room.... guess in case I felt like jumping on the benches and running around the room naked I guess; They need to keep an eye on you.

Sad.....

I got thinking is there something wrong with the attraction?
Does it ever fill?
Can it be fixed?

Kind of interesting the Tiki Room and Country Bears are in the same building and the Country Bears is getting TLC.

I love this new version of the original show. When there in March, it was quite full the times we checked it out, which were both in the afternnon.

Ive never seen the Tiki Room less than half full since it has been returned to its more classic roots.... and usually its packed.... so count yourself Lucky to have had the show to yourself you lucky person!!!

The Tiki Room at the MK has been my all-time favorite attraction since I first saw it as a 5 your old child soon after WDW opened in 1971....

I saw the show this last weekend and it was a packed house. Was probably around 5:00. Tiki Room, Country Bears, and CoP do well when it is extremely hot, extremely cold, or raining. Or when you are sick of waiting in lines...

We got to do both The Country Bears and the Tiki room on our first trip. I have the tiki room theme on my ipod and hear it at least once a day....maybe that's why im crazy....

Watched the show last Sunday afternoon. Very nice way to get out of the heat for a bit, and while the show was not packed, it was not far from empty, either. I agree witht the others saying 9:45 is a bit early for it - at 9:45 Sunday we were on our third Big Thunder ride of the day!

Never saw the original. First time for me was UNM and I liked that one. We saw the new one right after it opened and didn't like it at all.

We need time for things to happen.
So....going back to a shortened version of the original that was replaced with the Under New Management version because guests had lost interest in it was not the answer?

Shocking.

An attraction like this is never going to be a huge draw, and will never be 100% full 24/7. However, a variable soundtrack would have at least given guests a reason to go once or twice every trip.

So - this isn't even a return to the 'original' version? They took out all the UNM pieces parts went back to original characters etc, but It's modified?

Of all the times I've been to the World, I've never caught this or the CBJ. I had both on my list for this September trip.
One of them is now off the list, but I will still make a point to catch the Tiki Room ---

This is the return of the original version, but yes they did leave a small segment out and that was really the only questionably scary part of the show dealing with the angry Tiki Gods. The rest is exactly as it was first shown.

I certainly hope that you didn't decide not to see CBJ based on what you have read in the posts. Remember the old saying that one persons junk is another persons treasure. Always base your opinions on what you have experienced, not what others have. After you have seen it you decide it's lame or whatever, then make a decision to not like it. You never know.

That's a common thing. One always seems to like the first exposure over the second. For me, it was on CoP. The first time I saw it the theme was "now is the time" then they changed it back to the original "great big beautiful tomorrow" and I didn't like it anywhere near as well. The opposite would apply if the first exposure was GBBT. It's all a matter of personal emotions. Over time and different emotional situations, I have gotten to the point that I like GBBT as well.

It was pretty full when we went the last week of August. I like the Tiki Birds. On a side note I wanted to buy an Orange Bird Orange juice drink afterwards but found the price a bit high for me. I was dissapointed.

Thanks for the info on the Tiki Room.

Totally agree with the idea that we should base our judgements on first hand experiences. We were fully planning on seeing the CBJ. Unfortunately, the reason we're not going to see it is because of the refurb!
