Tiki Room Easter Egg in Camp Rock!!!

The main character is singing for the first time in front of the other characters. She's singing very meekly when the instructor says:

"You should sing a solo. You're already singing so low that nobody can hear you."

Or something close to that. Thought I'd share. Kinda like this one. Wasn't big on either of the High School Musicals, but this one is pretty good. We're catching up on TiVo now. Kids are pumped to stay up til 2am to finish it off. Then I have to watch the NHL Draft. Maybe I can sleep through the endless repeats this weekend of Camp Rock.

What's everybody else think?

i noticed that too, my friend and i immediately turned to each other and said "tiki room!" (no it is not strange at all that two 20 year olds excitedly sat and watched the premiere together on a friday night.)

i was a little bit disappointed. it wasnt as good as i'd except. none of the songs really stuck in my head. hours after watching HSM, i was still humming the songs to myself. but i do love the jonas brothers (i think theyre a talented bucnh that can play their own instruments and sing pretty wholesome songs but still look cool doing it.) so i enjoyed it for the most, it just wasnt all that i expected.

also, does anyone else ever feel bad for nick and kevin? in the opening credits they only got "with kevin and nick jonas", theyre in the background of the new album cover, basically joe gets all the spotlight, when he really only sings half the songs and waves a tambourine around.

and ill stop now, because i just said way too much about the jonas brothers, ruing any small shred of coolness i might have had

Well, at this house the songs definitely stuck in our heads!!! Both my husband I had trouble sleeping because we were singing the songs in our heads!!! But it probably didn't help that my daughter (6) was listening to the CD all day Fri.

I asked my daughter if she liked it more than HSM and she said "MORE"!!
I guess I know what we will be watching tonight!!!:p

I wanted to watch this last night for the sole purpose of wanting to see if it's better than HSM. I absolutely HATE HSM with a brimstone passion. Unoriginal, tacky, cheesy, annoying, and combined with a director who is a choreographer and doesn't know how to direct...hmm...yeahhh, uh NO. A story in how it's pretty much all, "Look a hot guy! Look, a hot girl! We're a cute couple! We're cute and pretty people! Watch us dance!" That's literally it. HSM2 was a smidgeon, a SMIDGEON better than the first, but even then, it still earns a 2.3 on my scale. I don't believe how high schools could perform it....it is THE scum of the theater universe. It's this generations 'Grease', and I hate that one with a brimstone passion too, but at least it's a classic by most people's standards that had a few catchy songs that became part of pop culture. This isn't even CLOSE.

I just don't understand the deal with the Jonas Brothers honestly. This is this decades version of Simple Plan, whom, might I say, were MUCH better than these guys, in all senses of the word. I'm guessing they're pretty much driven now only by their looks from the girls and their profits...*sigh*...what the world has come to these days, especially in entertainment...

Personally, I don't think the "solo" line was a nod to Tiki room. I've heard that pun in so many non-Disney places it's not even funny. Plus, it's such an obscure reference in a movie that has no other obscure references it comes across as more coincidental than anything else.

I guess my DD (8) and my DS (5) really liked Camp Rock since they got up at 7:00 am on the first real day of summer vacation for an encore DVR viewing this am. I suppose it will be watched over and over all summer. I dont know if it ranks as high as HSM 1 or 2 with the kiddies! Anyone know if anything is going on in WDW realted to Camp Rock at all?

It was a clear *wink*. Sorry if you feel otherwise. This isn't the first time Disney has made these nods to themselves. They're kinda good at it.

Nope... don't think it was.

I know they're good at it, but like I said, it's such a cliched joke that you can't say it's a not. Especially when there are no other similar nods in the movie.

Damn, if only one of us were a Camp Rock Producer. Guess this will continue to be a battle of wills then.

There was another line that could be seen as a nod. During a conversation, while warning that the popular girl was coming, said "something wicked this way comes" which was a Disney movie. Though I'm not sure if it was done on purpose.
