Orange County Sheriff's Office investigators have arrested a Walt Disney World employee who worked as the character "Tigger" and charged him with molesting a 13-year-old girl and her mother while posing with them for pictures in February.

Michael Chartrand, 36, was charged with one count of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child between 12 and 15 years old and one count of simple battery.

He was booked into the Orange County Jail today on a $2,500 bond.

The sheriff's office received a complaint that a costumed character at Disney World had touched a girl and her mother inappropriately while their pictures were being taken with the character Feb. 21. According to an incident report, Chartrand fondled the of the girl and the mother while posing for pictures at the Magic Kingdom's Toon Town.

"As the photo was being taken, [the victim] claims that Tigger moved his right hand up to her right breast and started massaging it several times," the incident report states. [The victim] became very embarrassed and ashamed of the incident and claims that she did not say anything to her mother until they left the park."

Later, the girl learned that the costumed character had done the same thing to her mother with his left hand, the report says.

The girl and her father reported the incident on Feb. 29.

Though it is hard to say if this is really what happened as you don't have both sides of the story, I really have a hard time seeing this charge amounting to a conviction, unless there is a third party witness. Tigger in full costume, groping guests? Nobody making a report at the time of the incident?

It is shame when anything like this happens, especially at a place that is supposed to be immune.

No, it’s a shame when morons sue for idiotic reasons.

I strongly doubt this event occurred; it’s just so damn implausible. Well, this isn’t the first time this allegedly happened, and it will be the second time the case was thrown out of court for lack of evidence.

Yep, that was my thought, a civil lawsuit.

However, the story is about criminal charges being pressed.

It would be interesting to know if there is a civil lawsuit involving Tigger. Would he have to give up something from the Hundred-Acre Woods? He might have to shack with Pooh if he loses his house.

Trophy Husband
About 7 years ago, my wife was holding my son in Fantasyland (I think it was near the Peter Pan ride and tigger walked by, patted my son on the head, and, my wife swears, felt her up a little.

Now my wife is over 13 ( waaaaay over 13 ) and she'll take all the action she can get, so there was no harm done and we laughed it off assuming it wasn't intentional. I think I may have joked with Rob about it once, asking if it was him, but I'm not sure.

I'm guessing this guy hasn't been around that long and it's completely unrelated, but I just e-mailed my wife that link.

I'll see if I have any photos on my hard drive (I think that may have been in the old days when we actually used film).

I highly doubt any costumed characters have ever “felt [anyone] up” intentionally. You can’t feel anything through the thick padding of the costume, thus rendering the whole objective pointless.

I completely agree with you.

First of all, with all of the rediculous lawsuits in today's society, I would have to always question the credibility of the accuser in these issues.

My question is: It says the daughter was molested as well as the mother. I see the daughter not saying anything but what about the mother? Why did she wait. She wasn't raped but rather "massaged" as she said and didnt tell ?

I think the little girl may be right but you never know. Kids can say anything and if their parents then build on it the story goes from there.

No where in the article does it say anything about a lawsuit. If you don't mind, could you please explain to me why you don't think this could have happened?

If I had to wager on this I would bet it happens more times than you think. Just my opinion.

Innocent until proven guilty - enough said. Let the evidence speak for itself. Don't be fooled by the costume though - I'm sure Disney has wackos working there just like everywhere else does

Well if the guy really did it........how could he possibly think he could get away with something like that?( unless there was seriously something wrong with him)
But the most suspicious thing to me is that they didn't file a report that day, OR report it do Disney that day.

I agree 100%. I just hate it when folks automatically start saying it couldn't happen because it's Disney or that the people are doing it for the money, when no one has filed a lawsuit yet.
