Tiffins - A new table service restaurant coming to Discovery Island at Disney's Animal Kingdom

The majority of signature restaurants do not fall into the "very, VERY expensive" category IMO. I'd be surprised if this one was as pricey as say, the Boathouse. Considering it is not a steakhouse, I'm going to bet that most meals at this place will be $50 or less per person with a few options closer to the $30 price.

I wonder if this place will have Rivers of Light viewing.
I bet it'll have a RoL dining package with a reserved seating area. No view from the restaurant itself of course.

Those criticizing the name are showing the cultural sensitivity of The Donald.

Not necessarily. From the DPB:

Tiffins will celebrate the art of traveling, featuring a diverse menu drawing from places that inspired the creation of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Asian/African/Space Cat/Dinosaur menu I guess.

Disney seems to do an above average job with unique cuisine (Sanaa, Jiko, Tusker's, Harambe Market). I hope this place follow's suit.

I'd have to agree with that - let's hope they keep that track record up

I agree. I hope it's a bit more diverse than that though. They are (for me at least) approaching critical mass with the number of "African inspired/influenced" restaurants. Pan Asian/African Fusion would be interesting but probably too adventurous for the standard park-goer.

Though I personally find the ethnic food focus of DAK quite interesting, I do think that the park could actually use one or two table service restaurants that feature more standard fare for the non-adventurous guests (aside from Rainforest Cafe - you can dine at those elsewhere in the US). I know that's not a popular opinion, but let's face it - there are some people who prefer their typical comfort food type dishes (pasta/meat & potatoes/etc) when they go on vacation and don't like to experiment with exotic spices and ingredients. I know quite a few actually.

I predict that whatever restaurant opens in Avatar land will fit that bill

As long as they bring back the poop treats for dessert, that's the main thing.
...poop... treats...

Perhaps a seated dinner package like Fantasmic! has, but not from the restaurant itself since it's behind Pizzafari on the Discovery River, far from the Rivers of Light show.
Agree.. its on the opposite side of the island that checks the ROL show.
Perhaps they will have a little view of the Avatar Land.

I like that they seem to be getting a bit more adventurous. Harambe Market, new Pecos menu, rumored that Skippers Canteen will be adventurous to the average guest and potentially this.

Maybe they are realizing that they have enough burger and fries places (that are always packed anyways) that they can get away with adding different types of restaurants and not have a problem filling them up.
I will be thankful if they get more adventorous..
nothing more boring than all restaurant having the same 1 meat, 1 seafood, 1 chicken offerings combos.

Exciting news, but the exposed duct work is disappointing.

The Harambe theatre had the AC units exposed until almost opening.
You cant see them anymore, they are very well thematically hidden.
So I will be surprised if they are still visible at opening.

Oh lookie....exactly what Animal Kingdom needed......more places to eat.
As if the 20 that already exist in the park aren't enough.

You do realize animal kingdom has the fewest restaurants (both table and quick service) of any WDW theme park. The park is currently adding a new land, with new attractions, and new entertainment and other enhancements. All of which will drive attendance and increase demand on park infrastructure. The park will need additional dining capacity.

You can get pizza and pasta at Pizzafari. There are ribs, chicken, and pork at Flame Tree. Standard park fare of burgers, chicken nuggets, hot dogs and fries are available at Restaurantasaurus. Even Tusker House has mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, etc...

I think DAK does a great job of having "normal" food as well as "themed" food to fit in with the park atmosphere. Don't forget all the food stands with a range from fresh fruits, allergen-free food, and soft-serve ice cream.
