Tiffins - A new table service restaurant coming to Discovery Island at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom could very easily be my 3rd-4th favorite park I've been to (after Disneyland, MK, and DCA)... if it got a little bit more of it full potential. As in, the original DinoLand U.S.A. concepts without any Chester & Hester, the original "Tiger River Run" concept, and of course Beastly Kingdom. While I doubt any of those will happen anymore, I hope they continue expanding the park after Avatar with things like Australia and South America. If they continue doing so, it might become my 3rd-4th favorite out of the parks I've been to, potentially beating out DCA if they continue expanding.

Doing ANYTHING on that Island would take a ton of work as right now, nature has taken over. All sorts of wildlife have made their home there and it would be a lengthy process to try and remove all of it. I highly doubt they will ever do anything there again. They have too many other land choices that will be a lot cheaper.
easy.. terror themed disney park.. :p

aka "Disney's terror wasteland island"

I also think that they announced Avatar way too early, yes it was the rights acquisition that was the first announcement but they also did a "groundbreaking" thing, yet it still feels like 10 years between first announcement and opening. By holding off unti la few months before the opening I think they will set expectations better for these smaller developments.
Remember they had to show something, since universal was stealing their thunder by a lot thanks to Harry Potter.

Although the QS menu wasn't the greatest, I always enjoyed Pizzafari for lunch. The separate dining rooms were so attractively themed with the animal designs on the walls, and the colorful tables and chairs. Each room was unique and pleasant.

If the plan is to share the space with a new TS venue, I really hope they expand the structure sufficiently perhaps out the back (or, could they add a 2nd floor?), so that they maintain the charm of the design and open space, for both QS and TS guests to enjoy.
what if they do the opposite? aka remove almost all the space of the QS area (aka, make it a QS counter service with barely any seats, like Casey's) and get all the rest of the space for the signature.

Photo update as of Tuesday, Aug 25. As announced, Pizzafari is now closed. A construction fabric wall surrounds the entrance and most of the building.

More significant is the original pathway to Camp Minnie Mickey (the future Pandora) is now completely blocked by this wall. The below photo shows the view from the center of Discovery Island towards Pizzafari (in the right background). The pathway to the future Pandora is behind this wall. You might recall there was a Disney Vacation Club kiosk on the left side of this pathway, on the left side of the photo.

those seem temporal until they install the ones with animal facts.

Also, they really cut down the walkway space.

It's not even 5 minutes by bus to go to AKL. In my opinion, the best restaurants out of all the resorts. We eat there almost everytime we go to AK then hop right back on the bus to go back. Well worth the extra 10-15 minutes to get quality food.
Agree, with Boma and Sanaa :D

so bad that Sanaa is almost always full!

Easy. You double the price.

Love Animal Kingdom for the gem that it is. Honestly it is probably the only stateside park with themeing and detail close to DisneySea. Every part of it is not perfect, but there is no theme park in the state of Florida with detail as great as that found in Africa and Asia at Animal Kingdom.
