i want to buy a 5 day hopper but i might get a AP closer to going to get the room discounts. is there a way to switch it or would i be stuck.

You can apply the amount of money from a 5 day hopper to a pass of greater duration ( 6 day, 7 day , AP etc) but you cant reduce a pass you already have. If you have an AP, the only pass you can have the purchase price credited to is the Premium AP. Is this what you were looking to do? Belle

but does it matter where i purchase the tickets to get it switched over to an AP?

I'd just go with the AP because the price diff isn't THAT bad, and ya never know, maybe you'll be able to make it down twice, plus the discounts usually make up for it anyways, at least with my family it did.

say i buy the hopper for 220 and the ap is 300. but disney's price is 240 for the same hopper. what would i pay

Of that I am absolutely not sure. I know there are reputable ticket brokers out there, but if Disney gives you the purchase price or their allowance for same. Id check with kingdom Konsultant on these boards. She deals with a reputable ticket broker and may be able to answer you. Belle
