Tickets required for free dining

I have been given a price for the Free Dining promotion that includes the required 2 Day Passes. I am an Annual Passholder, but no codes apparently exist for a trip after 8/14. It is some $300 cheaper to do it this way than the best price the agent can get me otherwise. I am considering letting my passes expire this year (the economy and all), but would use them for this trip. Is it possible to redeem the 2 day passes next year if I do not use them? Even better, would it be possible to extend them later to 10 day passes and use them for a trip in 2011? Who would I have to talk to on this in order to make sure I don't get stuck?

Thanks!
Dave

You can use the base tickets you had to buy on a later trip [make sure you don't accidentally use them while you're there]. The tickets can be upgraded to any level of ticket you want just like any other unused ticket, including AP renewal or new APs. The only 'trick' is to use them for AP renewal, you have to physically be in WDW during your renewal window.

Also, keep an eye out for AP discounts for your trip. If you're staying at anything other than a Value, you'll save much more with the discount than with the "free" dining.

Even at a Value, it's worth doing the math...

I stayed at Beach Club last August for 8 nights, the AP discount saved me enough to pay for a new AP, buy the TiW discount card and pay for our food at table service the whole time we were there. Which is much better than paying rack rate to get supposed "free" dining! We quite literally stayed, ate and went to the parks for less than rack rate. And I've still got the AP and TiW for my next trip! :D

TIW Card?????

Hello everyone,

I am new to this site. I have been to WDW several times using a timeshare. Do to the economy we don't have the timeshare anymore. However we still try to go. I am retired military and can get a military discount that saves us a good amount. My question is what is the TIW card and how can it help me save even more money the next time we visit. We are currently trying to plan a trip in September and have some good prices for the Cabins, Port Orleans, and All Star Movies. We are trying to find even more deals that we can use. Any assistance will help

You must be either an AP holder or a Florida resident to get the TIWL card. Here are the details. http://allears.net/din/dde.htm

To add a little more detail, if you have an Annual Pass, or you are a Florida resident, you can pay for a Table In Wonderland card (TiW). $100 if you're a Florida Resident, $75 if you're an Annual Passholder. Extra $50 if you want your spouse or partner to have his or her own card (if you always eat together, it's not necessary). For that, you get 20% off just about every sit-down restaurant & lounge on-property, and a couple of the counter-service restaurants, too (basically, the food courts in resorts where there is no sit-down restaurant). It's good for the cardholder and up to 10 guests, so the bigger your family, the better the value. In fact, I'd argue that if you have a big enough family or group going with you, and you knew you'd often be eating together, it'd be possibly be worth it for at least one person to get an annual pass and buy the TiW card. Even if you don't wind up going back to WDW that year, it may still be worth it for one person to take that plunge.

AP Free Dining

We are planning to stay...as we always have, at Riverside. We've used the meal plan since 2006, and have had good luck with it, although we were more than a little irritated (as many were I imagine) when the tip was no longer included. I think we'll try to carry the tickets over to the next trip...if we get stuck paying rack rates, at least having base tickets we can upgrade should lessen the blow.

Where can I get details on how I upgrade/extend the 2 day base passes at a later date? Do I have to do that at a park like I had to last year to get my Annual Passes?

-Thanks

To upgrade/extend the base passes I think it can only be done at any ticket window or Guest Relations.

If you're staying at a moderate as you say, you really should look at getting the Tables in Wonderland card, I find it a much better cost savings than DDP when you can take advantage of the AP discounts on the resort as well. If you like the 'convenience' of pre-paying for your food and the DDP works for you, that's OK too, so long as you realise you're probably paying more.
