I purchased a 7 day park hopper pass a few months back from the Disney Store in my local mall. I was wondering if there was any way to exchange the unused 7 day park hopper for an AP pass.

TIA

Not that I know of, your 7 day ticket will not expire, so you can always hold on to it for future use. I know its expensive to have both, but...

This can absolutely be done, but it must be done at one of the ticket booths at the parks themselves. I dont believe there is anywhere to exchange that up here. My AP was probably the best investment I have ever done especially considering that i usually get to do multiple trips per year. Factor in that alone and I have paid for my pass 3 times over this year alone. Then I also use the AP discounts that are offered on the hotel rooms!!! So you see the AP is a great way to go!!! Hope this helps!! Belle

Sorry I can give you any help but i'm going to jump in with my own question that is similar...

I am planning to go for a week at some point and is it better to get the annual pass rather than the 7 day Park hopper? will I really save that much on hotel rooms and what not? and do you have to activate it at the parks first before you get the discounts? I'm not planning(at this point) on going back within a year to use it again? Is it still the best bet? okay well I think that's it... thanks

You can figure it out, but at some point, I think its around 8 days(at least it used to be), you break even on an annual pass vs a park hopper. Therefore, only get an AP if you are going to be there for that many days in one year. The AP is nice though, if you take a week long trip, and then decide to go back later in the year, you have free admission already.

My mom's sister had a few days left from a previous WDW visit and decided to upgrade to an annual pass on her last visit. When the cast member told her she only needed to pay $65.00; she argued that couldn't be right. She was expecting to pony up at least $125.00 - $150.00. Then it was explained to her that her days left from the previous years were worth the same as this year; whereas she was thinking the days were worth less as she had paid less. Needless to say it was a pleasant surprise for her!

It really does depend. First off Id call and see if any of the hotel rooms for the period of time that you are planning to go are available. They arent always. Assuming that they are available you have to factor in the savings versus the same hotel at full rack rate per night. There are all sorts of discussions as to if the pass has to be activated or not, but according to the rules you must show up with a valid AP to obtain the discount. I can tell you I have been asked to show my AP only once or twice is the last few years, so you may not need to have it activated but I would just to save any trouble later. Belle

absolutely.

We did this in September. We just went to Guest relations at DTD, paid the difference in cost, and voila, we were all set.

Yes you can upgrade. In fact there was thread a while back about how to save money on the AP by upgrading another type of ticket. I don't remember the exact details, but it involved buying a discounted parkhopper or something that converts at a higher rate when used to upgrade. The idea was that some types of tickets are discounted while AP's are not, but the upgrade it at the face value regardless of the discount received on the original purchase. I don't endorse this practive, just throwing it out there. If I recall, it wasn't that big of a savings for the effort.
