The bad news is that I was at TDS today and was told that as of 6/01/03 the gate ticket prices at WDW are going up. Now, for the good news. The ticket media purchased in advance will remain at the same price it is at now. It seems WDW is trying to reward those of us that plan with a bit better discount. Mickey

I thought you had to sign over your life insurance and All the money in your bank account now, so that way anyone could go to the park once in their life time.

No major surprise there. This must be due to the IRS refund checks that will be issued this summer. What a coincidence.

Just for comparison's sake, The Washington Post published prices for 1 Day Admission on parks in the DC area (or driving area).

These are adult / child prices, Tax not included.

Park $$$$
Six Flags America, Largo MD $35.99 / $24.99
Busch Gardens Williamsburg VA $44.99 / $37.99
Paramount's Kings Dominion, Doswell VA $42.99 / $28.99
HersheyPark, Hershey PA $35.95 / $19.95
Six Flags Great Adventure, NJ $48.75 / $31.79

If my memory serves (and it may not  ) Annual Passes went up on January 1st, so I don't think they'll go up this round.

I'll keep watching here, though!

i personally see this as no problem..the local amusement park (Paramount's Carowinds) charage almost as much as Disney does for the one day hopper pass for an adult.

Carowinds: 32.99
WDW: 50.00

ok so i'm off by $17 but still..almost as much as disney for a one day pass...and carowinds isn't worth it that much

so disney go ahead and raise your prices.

Wow, all the money in my bank account? Cool! I can get into the park for 26 cents!

:)

Thats about right... and the 7 day cruise for the price of a 4 day one...

Disneys' animated movies (well, we'll have to see about Nemo) certinally arn't paying for them... ABC isn't raking in the profits, either...

If you want new rides like M:S and Everest then a few bucks more is whats going to help pay for them from every ticket. I have no problem with them raising prices and it would not stop me from going even if they raised it 10$...imo

Since the Disney Club is desolving this year, are there going to be any discounts if purchased with a Disney VISA. I remember saving lots of $$ with the Club card. We saved a lot of $$ purchasing tickets and items at the Disney Store. I hope they continue it somehow.

The ticket pricing issue might require further clarification......

The prices are not going up by that much. (I won't quote the amount here as to save everyone from correcting me.)

-AND-

The Disney Stores here in NY are NOT......(repeat) NOT.....raising ticket prices. This means there is an even greater savings (roughly $10 more on a 7-day pass) than before!!!

Check out your LOCAL store before assuming the prices went up everywhere!

Also, if you plan on going at ANY time in the future, BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!!! THEY NEVER EXPIRE!!!

:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Pardon my ignorance, but wasn't there a contract Disney signed in the early 90s that stated that they would not raise their park prices higher than a certain number in order to allow less fortunate families to enjoy the park? I believe that number has been surpassed for several years now. I can see how they need the money, but it's extremely sad.

(maybe Mr. Eisner can dish out a little first... )

what ever rise in prices that will occur will only bring Disney prices to those of Universal and Sea World...it was only a matter of time.

This is true. I keep saying that for the price of the parks you are getting a ton of entertainment.

I believe that number has been surpassed for several years now. I can see how they need the money, but it's extremely sad.

Why is it sad? even if it went up 20$ a ticket that would not be a deciding factor to go there or not. Its more expensive to eat there for a week and stay at a resort than anything else. I say raise the tickets and leave food and resorts alone....
