Ticket policy?

Does anyone know how strick the parks are about having a ticket for a 3 year old? My son just turned 3 this weekend and we arrive at WDW in a few weeks. Can I get away with not purchasing a park pass for him this time around? How will they actually know or even question his age? I can just say he turns 3 in a week and save some serious $$ right?

DVC: $20,000
Stolen tickets: few hundred
Teaching your kids that lying is OK and "good for us": PRICELESS

Sorry... While the above is fully accurate, I really don't mean it to be hostile. It's meant to identify which investments mean more in the long run. That $20,000 for DVC is peanuts compared to the lifelong morals of a child. I really hope that you will think hard about this decision. I don't care if Disney loses a few bucks, my thoughts are concerning the children's future.

Certainly the OP's child is doomed to a life of crime.

To the OP: Simply tell the CM that your son was born before his due date, and if he had hung on for just a few more days he would still be two. Don't buy him a ticket - put the money in his college fund... or better yet save it for bail money.

OMG this is too much for me. Here's my opinion. Do what you want as long as your kid is not kicking and screaming the whole time they are in the parks.

I would gladly pay 10% extra for my park tickets if Disney had a brat-o-meter and would kick kids out when they became unruly and force their parents to actually allow the kids to take a nap and not be run ragged before they let them back into the park. Then let them in for free up to 5 for all I care. (Go ahead and let the flaming begin, I can take it. AND I know there are many of you that have well behaved kids at WDW consider yourself exempt from my rant)

BTW from a lot of the accounts of the people saying do the right thing, I guess I should tell my 62 year old father that he is a bad person for accepting a senior discount for 65 and over.

Go Ahead OP say your kid is still 2, it's not hurting anybody. We can all be sure if it bothers your kid they will speak up and you will be busted and have to buy a ticket. So what, big deal.

I'm not going to judge. Good luck with your covert operation.:p

You are not doing anything wrong. What kind of ignorant statement is that. If they choose to not get a ticket than they are wrong. It is clearly stated everywhere you look that anyone over three needs a ticket. Whether or not they actually get a ticket is up to them. If you enjoy being honest than buy one. If you are a cheat than don't buy the ticket, but don't lie to yourself in the process and say it is not wrong to follow Disney's policies.

Perhaps a former Disney cast member with knowledge of whether Disney is strict about enforcement of policies is in the better position to answer the OP's question.

:ROFLOL:

Don't blow a gasket over this, but my last time down, I got free coffee at P.O. Riverside simply by taking my Disney styrofoam cup from my room and filling it at the drink station. Pretty funny after all the debates here about using Refillable cups purchased on prior trips . . . and this will really give some people a heart attack . . . a cast member told me to do it!

So I went overboard on the ignorant comment (sorry), but the fact remains the same. Former cast member or not the policy is in place for a reason.

At least the policy is not age 2 like Busch Gardens.

I'm not perfect and I don't pretend to be, but a cheat I am not. My daughter just turned 5 and she is still looks young for her age, but when she turned 3 we bought her a ticket because that is the way it should be.

This isn't really the place for moral discussions, but the question was asked. What it really boils down to is if the OP wants to do what is right by Disney or what is right by them.

Are you seriously comparing getting a free cup of coffee offered by a cast member to not buying park tickets for a child who is required by disney policy to have one? :veryconfu

Also, lets not forgot that when a CM says something is OK they aren't necessarily speaking on behalf of Disney. They are either sympathizing with the guest or just want to avoid a conflict.

Let me first say that it's none of my business whether you buy a ticket for your child or not, so I'm not being judgemental at all.

I'm honestly interested in the rationale that the OP and others have posted when this topic has come up. The "I've given Disney so much money, I'm entitled to....." argument. You also see this in the refillable mug threads..."I spent $3000 on this vacation, Disney can spare a few free drinks for my family"

If you went into Circuit City or Best Buy and spent $5000 on a plasma TV, does that mean that it would be OK for you to pick up a DVD on your way out of the store and put it in your pocket?

Again, I'm not judging/accusing/lecturing. Don't really care about the ticket. I'm just trying to start an interesting discussion, on how the first scenario is different from the second. :)
