The auctioneer isn’t gesturing at us, he’s very specifically addressing other figures within the fiction. The auctioneer is an integral part of a large and incredibly well-designed scene full of gags and characterization.
You’re right, and I agree it used to be an amazing scene in its original form. But if you were to show him out of context, without knowing what the scene is or who else is there, much of the brilliance would be lost.

Until we all see the finished TBA, we won’t know whether or not the Tiana and Louis figures are interacting with anyone besides the riders. Right now they’ve only been shown out of context. I’m just saying we ought to wait and see everything the finished attraction does and does not offer.

But for the record, considering what Imagineering has done over the last several years, I won’t be surprised if you are absolutely spot-on with your concerns.

This corner works incredibly. I've been pretty big detractor of TBA, but seeing it lit up definitely helps. Once the mountains lit up I'm sure it'll help 10× more

Now THAT actually looks pretty nice. Better both because it's less stark bright white and also way more toned down. I'm glad that they seem to be trying out some alternate schemes and I hope something closer to this one (or a similar brightness at least) ends up winning over what they were doing the other night.

Also, I THINK I spotted you around the Critter Co-Op a few hours ago as we were passing by that area. We were getting off from the final circle the train was making. Considered saying hi and probably should have done, but I was with family and we were in a hurry.

I think "drop into the bayou" means Slippin Falls. Not the big drop.
Gotcha so now we are at:

On the way to mill house: Down in New Orleans
Mill house and to Slippin Falls: Almost There
How do you do?: Gonna take you there
Laughin Place: ???
Lift & Drop: Dig a little deeper
On the way to the finale: ???
Finale: Original PJ Morton song
