This has to be fake news. Even if Iger thought this he would never say it where random folks could hear it.

Iger doesn't do tours like that (Eisner was the one who liked getting personally involved in projects and checking up on them). He'll sometimes make PR appearances walking around the parks, or attend groundbreaking or opening ceremonies. But he's not going to walk through rides like this to check up on their progress. I'd be sort of surprised if he ever steps foot on this ride at all (again he's not Eisner).

As others said prior, if he cared to do so, he'd have seen the mockups and renderings of what they were going to build and the story without ever having to step foot in the parks.

He also isn't going to blurt out such things like a tactless dolt for all to hear either. He's not Bob Chapek. It would also be absurdly easy to figure out who leaked said comments because he would have a relatively small entourage of guards and imagineers present. Heads would roll.

No we cannot. This is why so many people are frustrated over the negativity. To dislike the retheme is one thing, but having to constantly hear people push the narrative that changes are being made this late into construction as a result of some online backlash, or that they've been "winging it" the whole time, is exhausting and disingenuous.

While I agree that the story didn't happen entirely as reported, it probably has a kernel of truth. He went on the ride and then gave feedback to the Imagineers on his thoughts. Imagineering is not that big a place. The rumor then got out from there.

It's not an incredibly terrible report either. Basically, Iger expressed some critiques of what he saw. He wanted a little more vibrancy and color in a few scenes. Not the end of the world. The Imagineers then responded with fixes. Iger famously heard the Wonderful World of Color Soundtrack, and said it needed to be reworked. He provides criticisms and the creatives under him address the problems he identifies.

This is a normal part of any ride development. Those making it into a big deal are overblowing it, but I also wouldn't outright say it never happened. It's totally plausible.

The top of Avery Island, which is a salt dome, has rivers and lakes. I'm guessing the 'salt dome' angle is to justify a rapid descent in the Gulf Coast Louisiana, not to actually enter the mine in the salt dome.

You are riding around a salt dome on the outside, but when you enter the show building you are being transported to the Bayou. Think of it as a suspension of belief. You are physically entering a building but in the actual rides story, you are continuing down a river into an outdoor bayou setting.

I always assumed that Big Thunder Mountain Mining Company was mining gold and other precious metals. But all this time they were salt miners!

I'll clarify that i'm not operating under my own personal suspicions that the Iger tour never happened. I was straight up told some months back that the entire story surrounding the Iger tour (including that there even WAS a tour at all) was complete BS. I went over this a while back in this thread.

I've had my posts deleted before for directly calling out the person who started this rumor, so I won't say the name outright (which is a shame because I feel this sort of misinformation and behavior should be called out for what it is, though it's well known who it was regardless). They've put out other misinformation on the ride as well. One example being that it only contains 17 AA's in total (this got picked up and spread by other agitators as well). Suffice to say, not a reputable source whatsoever.

Okay, we'll try not to get too "salty"... I know some of us like to "pepper" our posts with criticisms of Tiana's Bayou Adventure. I get that this thread has a specific point, and when we deviate it's an "a-salt" on the purpose of thread. Too much "saltiness" can really suck the life out of a thread.

He has never even had a conversation with the director for The Haunted Mansion. I don't think he is the type to care what a ride was rethemed to.

Iger does tour rides and give feedback on construction. It's well documented that he has given feedback on Disney Parks projects and changed their outcome. TBB is the only thing of significance coming to Walt Disney World this year. If he visits Walt Disney World at all (which we know he does about once a year), you can bet that he will take a tour of Disney's biggest CapEx project at Walt Disney World.

Ted Robledo has also revealed that the Imagineer in the above video, Laura West, created the 17 original characters for Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
