Was this changed on the mermaid ride? I remember it only being 2D.
It was originally a 3d animation that looked terrible.

If I was on this project one of the biggest boldest bullet points I would have had is something that read….

*wherever there was something it needs to be replaced with something equal or better.

Obviously this may not be possible in EVERY spot but it’s a something that should have guided them. But maybe that’s just not possible with a “smaller”budget and a team that doesn’t know how to get the most bang for their buck.

They replaced entire vignettes with screens
A sculpted 3D You May Get Wet sign of Brer Rabbit with a flat sign with generic font.
The Brer Rabbit ornament with nothing making the logs like every other log ride in America.

The list can go on for days.
It all just feels so cheap!!! They've wanted to do this since at least 2010, there were talks about this as early as then, why does it all seem so lazy? 😭😭😭😭

No animatronics here? No problem! We will just...turn off the lights!!!

I doubt they put much thought into it back then. Not much more than a "it would be neat". Granted they didn't put much thought into it when they were actively developing it post announcement, and it is in fact "not neat".

Hi! I wanted to add my thoughts since I finally got to ride this overlay.

The good…
The queue, the exterior does look good, the animatronics and the finale.

The bad…
The ride is way too fast, the story is easy to understand but it is a bad story. There was so much potential but TWDC blew it. As everybody has said, there was no need to do this ride. Give Tiana a new ride but again Disney was lazy and cheap.

The UGLY
The execution of all of it. Again, there are good parts but you cannot see it because you are going mach one through the ride. You get people soaked during Xmas during your launch?!?! Why? Spend the next few months and create a compelling story and with some drama. It is an unfinished product.

It is a much better ride in person but Disney leadership should (and probably) learn from this because they are capable but allowed outside influence to create something that is underwhelming.

Omg, they didn't fix the soak factor DLR Splash was known for. 😭😭😭😭😭

🙀🤐😥

Edit: not being sarcastic, legitimately baffled by this choice on their part.

Yes. I thought they would have fixed that when they had the chance. There is no reason why the entire logs needs to go underwater lol.
It's brutal, and is another reason in a long list of many on why I will never ride this version. I did it for Brer Rabbit and the critters of the Laughing Place, but I'm not doing it for the bland static frogs.

On my first ride last week I was in 3rd position and my feet got pretty soaked. On my second ride through I got lucky and was the first in line for my log and the CM asked if I wanted 1st or 5th position. I quickly chose 5th. I also pulled my feet behind me instead of in front of me and they stayed dry. However, I still would have gotten pretty soaked on my pants and shirt if I didn't wear the poncho. Here is a pic of my second ride:

I was the only one in a poncho on this trip.

I know what I'm about to say might be considered blasphemous, but the ride actually kinda grew on me the second time I rode it. There's definitely a certain "vibe" with the music and setting. Not saying it is better or equal to Splash, but I did enjoy my times riding it and always had fun people in the logs with me. The way I was sitting my body came off of the seat on the top of the hill on the Laughing Place dips.
