For comparison, the two scenes I listed above:

They both feel like afterthoughts. Like "Oh wait where can we fit these....uh here! Perfect!"

I never thought I'd compliment WDW's version of Bayou Adventure, but at least the figures look like some care was put into making them look like they belong there:

It's really making me wonder what people were talking about when they said the staging was a vast improvement a day or two ago...like, not really? They often seem in worse spots that you now fly by, making it even hard to see

The lighting just seems so off. I get that it’s supposed to be a lantern illuminating the scenes but it just looks like a spot light pointed at a stage. I think that’s whats probably throwing me off most about the HDYD scenes. The awkward lighting and lighting inconsistencies throughout the scene. Darkness darkness darkness, spotlight on Louis, darkness darkness spotlight on Tiana darkness spotlight on Critters playing.

Also just kind of weird in general. These critters were just playing instruments in the dark until Louis n Tiana came with their lanterns?

  • 110 animatronics reduced to 14. There’s no way to sugar coat it, that’s a terrible downgrade.
This is absolutely unforgivable and we all know WDI is making a documentary now about how "advanced" their animatronics are. I'd much rather have a filled in set then the latest in electro motors.

I guess now with this open we can end this whole saga WDI started in 2020. No more speculation. It does confirm what many feared since the beginning, the WDI of today does not know how to make an attraction as good as the WDI of the 1980s.

Not getting into the retheme controversy, but solely in regards of the capabilities of WDI: Many looked down upon people being skeptical, but looking back the skeptics were right.

That’s up to personal opinion.

Well yes but I'm having in an inner debate. The best part would be waking up early and not getting a VQ. What that said "sleeping in" these days isn't what it used to be. We rarely get to sleep past 8am. Plus I know I'd probably feel like a jack@$$ for not getting one when my son sees people riding and asks if we can go on.

I like some of the animatronic staging better, but some of it is even more awkward than WDW. Maybe it’s just the videos but it looks like you’d need to crane your neck to see the first Louis figure and Tiana on the log.

Why didn’t they put the log where the take me along gator was?

I think the Mama Odie effect at the laughing place drop and the lift hill lighting work a LOT better in DL’s space.

This POV in particular shows just how much .... nothing there is in that first HDYD scene. Keep in mind, that scene contained:
- 12 fully animated geese
- 3 bullfrogs
- Br'er Frog (Limited movement but still animated)

now it's all just ... grass. And one giant screen.

This is why every time I critique this ride the HDYD do scenes are the first thing that cross my mind. They re really the poster child for what went wrong with this attraction. It's the biggest drop off from what was there previously. If they could fix the HDYD scenes are put Facilier or any sense of suspense on the lift hill it would solve 80% of the issues.

Also it’s obviously previews so not judging any animatronic malfunctions, but the second Louis figure looks really off. Besides the issues with his motion it looks like the fabric on his chest is pulling/stretching weirdly

Things that Ive gotten used to or that aren't bothering me nearly as much as I thought they would:

The Green barn with the purple banner
The water tower (could do without the tiara but it doesn't make my Top 20 issues with this attraction)
The queue

Finale Louis seems to be having some of the same issues. You'd think they would have caught this in testing or design.
