Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I looked at this ride with what I consider realistic expectations knowing current WDI doesn't really do masterpiece atmospheric, charming attractions with expert staging. That just isn't their focus and hasn't been for some time. They also don't care about filling rooms with animatronics like the 80s.

My 2020s WDI rating for this is an 8/10. Way better designed than Guardians of the Galaxy or Pixar Pier. Doesn't reach the same heights as Rise of the Resistance. I imagined somehing MUCH WORSE for Tianas and ended up enjoying the end result quite a bit.

That being said I never expected it to be close to Splash Mountain given WDI's output in the last decade.

It has some cute characters, fun scenes, music, and decent atmosphere and the ride track layout is already great but that's a given.

I didn't end up hating the retheme once all was said and done and will look forward to going on it when I visit now.

My 1955-1995 WDI rating for Tiana's is a 6/10. It doesn't hold a candle to the Walt or Baxter era classics by any means.

First Look Inside Rapunzel Ride in Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea

Tokyo is living proof that it's not WDI that lacks the imagination or the ability to create stunning attractions; it's the corporate control and management alongside the budget constraints that stifle the possibilities within the parks- that being said, Encanto may be a win in the animatronics category.

Very true. Haven't been to the international parks myself but I'd agree with you.

Yes this explains the awful new POTC auction script or the terrible story and dialogue they cooked up for TBA. Poorer quality talent and leadership at WDI (especially post Covid) is also part of the issue. Granted, TBA is a unique case that probably never had a real shot at being great with all the self imposed constraints but there’s no excuse for some of this stuff.

Agree with the sentiment but thats how most people get off any ride isn't it? By the time they are walking out of the building it may have been up to 3 minutes after the last show scene.
Wait, you've never seen families get off rides and talking about what they just did? At that, you never did that?

Of course I have. I’m saying I don’t think it’s a good indicator on Splash/ TBA as by the time folks are exiting the building it might be up to 3 minutes since the last show scene on the ride. Any excitement would most likely wear off by then for the average person.

Agreed, other than talking about being drenched I doubt the average guest was talking about anything beyond maybe the drop. They certainly weren't talking about a talking rabbit, fox, bear, or even singing animals on a riverboat.

Yeah. I think for most people to be still thinking or talking about the ride that long would be centered around how wet they are or perhaps singing or humming Zip a dee doo dah who is much catchier (and more iconic of course) than the new finale song

I feel you both indirectly pointed out the problem in which I was mentioning. Nobody was talking about anything. Not the drop associated with Tiana, not the songs associated with Tiana, not the level of drenched associated with Tiana. We all can agree people normally would get off after "3 minutes from the last show scene" and exclaim about being drenched with water and a good time. These people are now drenched with water and resentment and just moving on.

Just get over it. Tiana is just as good if not better than Splash Mountain.

You gave up on your own argument and insisted I get over it and submit to your opinion. That's just what Disney wants all of us to do. Feed us 💩 and tell us to accept it and say it's pretty. No thanks, buckaroo. Understand, that as a consumer, I do not find value in being disingenuous.

Why theme anything then?
What is the acceptable amount of time to you that a person should be talking about a themed attraction after getting off it, 5 min? 10 min? 1 hr?

The reality is that the vast majority aren't talking about an attraction for more than a minute or two after its completion before looking for the next attraction.

Well I’m not sure about you, but round here we trust Disney. In my home it goes God, Disney, Family then Country. In that order.

I seriously doubt many regular guests have resentment over an attraction. And I'm fairly sure the same amount of people that exclaimed about being drenched and having a good time when it was Splash are the same amount today, they just aren't whistling Zip now (not that I really ever saw that myself in the last 30+ years but can believe it happened).
