Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I’m going Sept 29-Oct 6th and this is what keeps me up at night. Also it just seems like a bizarre time of year to open a ride people get soaking wet on.
I would assume it won't be open for your trip - the way it was phrased to me made October feel more like best case scenario than like a sure thing. Plus, it's better to expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised than to expect to ride and be disappointed.

I'll cross my fingers for you, though 🤞🤞🤞

That map isn't accurate to whatever their plans really are. So don't take it as the real location for anything.

The assumption has been that any expansion would have a bridge behind Pooh's Corner as that is where Disneyland Dr and Magic Dr and the Stitch parking lot are located. Easier to put it there than anywhere else. To put it behind where Indy/Pirates is located would require moving the Monorail track and likely the DTD Monorail station. Something that isn't likely part of this project.
No, you would be wrong @Disney Irish. If we compair two pictures side by side:

Oh wait never mind. Its close to it, but it’s more near the plot of land with pirates and mansion behind the railroad station

Point is don’t take that map as gospel on exactly where everything will be placed. It’s just supposed to show a basic concept just so they can sell the project to the City Council to get approval. There is no guarantee the final layout will look anything close to what is depicted.

Oh, well wherever it goes, I don’t think it will happen. I think a 3rd gate will happen instead

Not likely, but you can believe that if you want. You’re still young, lots of time left for you to be disappointed. ;)

But seriously, to me you can get the same benefit of a 3rd gate, ie more stuff to do, without having to pay for a 3rd ticket just by having an expansion.

Looks like Winnie The Pooh reopens May 12th. Last day it shows as closed is May 11th.

Perhaps Critter Country will be completed by then? Or enough done to reopen ride by then?

Even more new critters and the ride's poster have been revealed:

Ready to head back into the bayou and discover more new Disney characters who are part of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? It’s time to introduce more of our critter musicians, the perfect musical accompaniment for Princess Tiana’s party during Mardi Gras season.

Previously, you learned about the critters who play Zydeco music – and now, let’s get ready to march with Rara! Often found at festivals and street processions, Rara is a musical tradition from Haiti that’s part of the musical history and melting pot of New Orleans. The genre includes unique instruments with beautiful, distinctive sounds.

Here are the Rara musicians you’ll discover further down the bayou!

Octavia the Bobcat – Octavia plays the vaksin, a single-note horn instrument popular in Rara music. She’s an adventurous bobcat kitten, and she loves climbing and hanging out in trees almost as much as she loves performing. This daredevil almost never gets scared.

Pawpaw the Bobcat – Not only is Pawpaw Octavia’s devoted grandfather, but he also taught her how to play the vaksin! Pawpaw lives to make Octavia smile and has the view that everything has a way of working itself out – he’s seen it all but isn’t jaded.

Claude the Louisiana Black Bear – Claude is a salt of the earth kind of bear (or, as they say in the bayou, “salt of the mound”) who plays his horn along with the other members of his family. He’s a tinkerer who loves to create with things found in the forest, and is frequently funny without intending to be, especially when it comes to his home-grown creations.

Bernadette the Louisiana Black Bear – Bernadette loves to enjoy life, from splashing in the waters of her bayou home with her cub, Sebastián, to playing the horn with her mate, Claude. She’s a clear thinker and is warm and supportive. Bernadette loves to sink into the bayou waters and munch on plants (so long as Sebastián is clearly within sight).

Sebastián the Louisiana Black Bear – Though he’s definitely a “mama’s cub,” Sebastián charted his own musical course as a drummer, despite his parents being devoted horn players. He’s happy to follow his friend Octavia’s adventurous lead as they explore and play, and is fascinated with the small details in the bayou, like the insects and mushrooms.

Phina the Gray Fox – Phina’s enthusiasm extends beyond her drumming, as she’s constantly thinking of new ideas with optimism and energy! This imaginative fox is continually starting new projects with excitement, and her friends accept and celebrate her unique thinking.

Not only will you meet these new friends as Audio-Animatronics figures throughout the attraction, but some of them will also appear in the Walt Disney World attraction poster, which you can find below! It looks like they’re ready to put on quite the memorable performance, and a few more critters are left to be revealed…

Come back next week for the reveal of the last group of talented critters. You’ll soon be able to cheer on your favorites once Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in Walt Disney World Resort this summer, and later this year at Disneyland Resort.

Anyone noticing that some of these critters look a lot like old Disney characters? A couple of the bears look like Baloo and Bongo. Then you for the Turtle from Robin Hood, Meeko from Pocahontas and the Squirrel that falls in love with Merlin as the Beaver.

Well Disney have reused their character models a lot over the decades, so wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case here too.

Style-wise, the poster looks to me like a combination of the posters for Splash Mtn., Mr. Toad (the silhouettes) and Alice (the swirling line art character collage). I like it!

It looks like this was made in any basic graphic art program. I get these same designs submitted for theatre posters from high school kids.
