I just saw that!

For those of you who can't place the name, Mr. Ravenscroft was perhaps best known for his rendition of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch," as heard on the animated classic, and as the voice of Tony the Tiger.

His voice can be heard prominently on many of the Disney attractions, such as Pirates of the Caribbean. He is best known at the parks for his lead ('Uncle Theodore') in "Grim Grinning Ghosts," the voice of Buff the Buffalo in all three Country Bear shows, Fritz in the Enchanted Tiki Room, and the Tiki Room's Tongaroa Tree. He was also the narrator for the Disneyland RR between 1955 and 2001, a Disneyland "Melloman" and performed vocally in several Disney animated films, ranging from Dumbo to Alice in Wonderland to 20K Leagues Under the Sea to Mary Poppins.

Thurl, you will be missed! :(

Pop N. Fresh Is Dead.

Veteran Pillsbury spokesman, The Pillsbury Doughboy, died yesterday of a severe yeast infection and complications from repeated lacerations to the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in one of the largest funeral ceremonies in recent years. Dozens of celebrities turned out, including Mrs. Butterworth, the California Raisins, Hungry Jack, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, Cap'n Crunch and many others.

The graveside was piled high with flours as longtime friend, Aunt Jemima, delivered the eulogy, describing Doughboy as a man who "never knew how much he was kneaded."

Doughboy rose quickly in show business but his later life was filled with many turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes.

Still, even as a crusty old man, he was a roll model for millions. Doughboy is survived by his second wife, Play Dough. They have two children and one in the oven.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

Actually, the voice of the Pillsbury Dough Boy was Paul Frees, who also voiced Ludwig Von Drake and the Ghost Host, among other popular voices (in an attempt to tie it into the context of this thread).
