Three Cheers for Universal

Is the one thing I dislike about Universal Orlando re-using buildings. They cant be as creative as they would like too. The Outside of that Despicable me in Hollywood blows Orlando's out the water.

On the other hand Universal Orlando, can go inside a building and change a ride quicker, cheaper if it becomes irrelevant so I dont mind. I'm a sucker for theming though!

To be fair, Hollywood had more space to work with for Despicable Me. That rarely, if not never, happens. I do like how they added Gru's neighbors and Miss Hattie's orphanage to the facade in Hollywood, as well as Super Silly Fun Land on the side (not shown in the photo). Still, at the end of the day, you guys still have the extra space in the parks.:)

It's not a bad flume ride, all things considered. Uncomfortable seats/restraints are probably the worst thing about it.

But IOA doesn't need more than two wet rides -- and Ripsaw Falls is my least favorite of the three. Not to mention it takes up a sizeable piece of real estate.
Yeah but it has probably the best drop of any flume ride anywhere. The park would miss that ride if it was to be taken away.
It's a true get soaked flume ride. JP doesn't really do that like DDRF does In my experience. Blutos is a whole different deal entirely and should be the one to go if it were up to me.

No. Popeye's is a masterpiece of its kind. Easily one of the best rapids attractions ever built.

Fair enough. I agree that as far as rapids rides go it's up there on the list, but rapids rides in general leave me unimpressed overall. They always have ever since I was a kid. They're fun, but there is very little legitimate thrill factor IMO.
That final drop in DDRF alone (and the preceding ride is pretty good too) makes it more fun than the barges to me.
And you get soaked on both. :D

I love the water rides, but I just can't help but think on the rapid rides....."This would be much better in a canoe!"

From the video I just watched it looks like the Grizzly River Run is superior to any other Rapids ride I've seen including Popeye's. Now THAT was a rapids ride. :D
Having ridden MANY rapids rides (including both of those two) I can guarantee you that Popeye is better than Grizzly. Grizzly is definitely my #2 rapids ride though.

I get why you don't like it, but it's a FAMILY ride that more people can ride over Dudley. They're a very popular type of ride...and one of my faves to hit up at any amusement park on a nice or hot day.

The family ride thing is a big part of what I look for in a park due to having two small children. My son is about 45" tall now and those rides are important to me. What I was commenting on was my own feelings toward the ride for myself as a rider. I agree with your point, yet feel uni could use more rides with thrill being that they are simulator heavy park and losing a dudley doo right type of ride would be sad to me.
