Thoughts On The Contemporary Resort

We will be going to WDW 5 - 11 Jan 03 and since I'm retired military I can stay at the Shades of Green military resort on Disney property. Now the good part! Shades of Green is closed for remodeling and we are being put up in the Contemporary for $89 a nite!

I was just wondering what peoples thoughts on the Contemporary are. I have 3 kids, ages 15, 12 & 6. They think it's cool because the monorail goes through it, but I was just curious on others thoughts and feelings.

We've gone to Disney 3 times in the past two years but stayed off site each time, so we're very exited about this trip. Also how will the crowds be at this time of year? My other trips were in May, November, & April.

Thanks for any info and advice.

Contemporary

Thanks jmarc63. :animwink: Actually I tried that first. I'm still hopeful though. I've got time (5 months). If someone hasn't created it already, they could before I go. I'll just keep watching!

I know I can't wait to go!

My wife and I have booked a 14th floor room for our honeymoon!

we've both always wanted to stay there but we figured now is our chance!

of course, it's too bad there aren't ANY discount codes for the 14th floor... :(

I will always love the Contemporary.

While these days I'm inclined to believe that the absolute overall best resorts on property are Yacht & Beach and the Boardwalk, the Contemporary will always be a personal favorite because I've grown up with it. It was the first resort I ever stayed at, and the one that I've stayed in the most. My mom and I have more traditions grounded at the Contemporary than anywhere else. We always make sure to grab a bite of lunch at the Food & Fun Center (which will always be, to me, the "Fiesta" Fun Center), and I always take a picture at the silver Mickey in the courtyard right out back.
The California Grill can be a rewarding experience, too, if you time it right and catch the Magic Kingdom fireworks during your dinner. The food is a little fancy for my tastes, and the price can be a little high, but it's definitely a great place to eat at least once.

My thought on the Contemporary is that I would LOVE to stay there! It is my all time Disney fantasy to stay in the Contemporary...tower room, MK view, of course! (told ya it's a fantasy!)

The Contemporary = GREATNESS.
I have stayed there 3 times and each time I have a had a blast.
Chef Mickeys is a great place for a character breakfast and you can watch the water pagent and magic kingdoms fireworks right from the hotel

i have always wanted to stay in this Hotel!! However, the rest of my family are not as enthusiastic as I am. I love the fact that the monorail goes through it and I have only heard good things about Chef Mickey's and California Grill. If I was going to stay there it would have to be in a room with a view of MK! I also love the fact that the rooms were "pre made" and slotted into the frame after that had been built.
