Did anyone else think they just made the christmas parade more of a Disney Channel promo parade??

I miss the old days when they talked about the rest of the parks and made the vacation destination sound more exciting..

Well thats all what ANY business does nowadays. You have to market your product. But the kids who watch the parade aren't looking at the marketing they are saying, "oh i want to be there and see mickey." disney really doesnt have to market themselves for we do it for them by continously talking about it and finding out new information and getting it out there. and did anyone watch the macy's parade? thats just ALL promotion.

I'm with you crimson. And what's up with the actress from glee. She's not on a Disney owned show. Yet she's performing and in my opinion not very good.

Disney Xmas day parade has always been a two hour commercial. That's what it is, it's never been different--they always feature their stable of performers and talk about what's coming up in movies, tv, and the parks! Enjoy!

But, If you think about it. It was done MUCH Better in the Past..Where at least when they mention upcoming things throughout the show they made it more exciting to go to Disney World.

There wasn't even a mention of the FL Expansion but they talk more of DCA and the upcoming Star Tours 2 for a brief minute or two and show the *Shudder* Screen saver Castle projection for let the Memories begin..

It sucked. The writing is cheesy, Ryan Seacrest is annoying, and the editing is terrible. But it's like that every year, so no surprise there.

I actually preferred when they made it more of a commercial for WDW by showing rides and attractions. Who the heck wants to see a 300 pound Mariah Carey lip synching?

I thought the parade it's self was pretty good and there were some really nice areal shots of WDW.

The singers were all mediocre though and I can't stand Ryan Seacrest or Nick Cannon. Why either of them are chosen to host so many shows is beyond me.

I enjoyed it for the most part, yes it's a big commercial but that pays the bills.
Cut Mariah some slack she is carrying twins, at least see looks healthy and Seacrest made a joke about his height. Regis and Kelly used to do always creep me out. She looks like she never eats and he lost his fast ball about the same time Whitey Ford did circa 1968.

I totally agree. Much better in the past, WDW was highlighted a lot more in the past and coming attractions for WDW. This time it was more about the Disney Dream, Hawaii DVC, and DCA.

As a huge Disney fan, I feel an obligation to watch it each year. I will say, that is has become less of something enjoyable due to the fact that it is mostly for Tweens.
I agree with the previous poster that it has been better in the past. They used to spend more time talking about parks and making you excited about your next trip. I stepped away to call my folks, but Did they not talk up the new Fantasyland expansion? I would have thought that was a No-Brainer" but thats just me.
I will say though in Disney's defense, it is hard to get toooo excited for the fact that we all hear of news on the internet so everything they talked up today was something I already knew.

Why would they talk about FLE when its not even going to be done by Christmas of 2011? What advertise for something that isn't there for guests to enjoy? I don't understand that you guys are complaining about the fact they are advertising and then complain of what they left out in the advertisements. Why watch it in the first place if you knew that you were going to be disappointed? I thought the parade was amazing. It doesn't bother me that Disney advertises stuff because I choose what I buy. I don't buy every Duffy thing I see but I sure will listen when Disney advertises it. Lol. It puzzles me all this, "I love Disney, but god forbid that they market anything and if they do why can't they mention something that's not going to be out for a couple years." But whatever, thats my opinion. Lol.

I agree that the Parade is a paid commercial. I was lucky enough to see parts of the parade being filmed. After 2 hrs of MC we hit up the rides. I see MK was closed due to capacity issues at 1200. I wonder how many people thought they would see it "live", when it was filmed almost a month ago.

Some people are clueless.

Have a safe 2011.

Get rid of Mariah Carey (she is horrible), Nick Cannon (why is he a host or important anyway?) and stop with the Disney Channel "stars" (using that term loosely), and maybe we'll have a much better parade... I was truly bored with it after 10 minutes....

I agree too many Disney Channel references, but let's face it, we are not who they are targeting. By that I mean we are the generation of the past. They don't need to hook us, they need to hook our kids and grandkids.

I will say it was nice to see almost all new clips instead of repeat of clips shown each year.
