Thoughts on Narcoossee’s

This makes zero sense.

So, you're food-trapped because you overpaid to stay on property?
It actually makes total sense. It’s not my fault if you can’t keep up. I‘m not trapped anywhere. I also didn’t overpay for anything. I started this thread to simply ask people’s thoughts on this particular restaurant. You are the one who entered the thread and started talking about something totally off-topic like eating off property. Anyway, I find your suggestion to be totally ridiculous, so I didn’t give it a second thought.

Have dined there since it opened on every other visit, go every year, and have never been disappointed. I have always received great value for the expense. Some people always complain but going in with an open mind you will not be disappointed.

Total agree. We too go every year, and we tend to visit Narcoossee's every other year. The Surf & Turf is excellent! In fact, it's on our list to do this October when we return. :)

For what they do, you can do better off-property.

Convenience aside, 95% of Disney's kitchen are cooking mid-grade at best.
Agree with both posts.

For what you'll pay, there are other spots where you'll enjoy more either at the same price point or slightly higher.

We're all accustomed to (and accept) that there's a "tax" or upcharge for certain meals simply because you're on hallowed property. There are a few spots (on- and off-property) that I believe are appropriately priced, tax or no tax. This is one that feels like you're getting taken for a few extra bucks simply because you're on the property.

So you agree with a post that says it makes zero sense for someone who is staying on property to decide that they wish to dine on property as well? Because that’s precisely what the person you quoted was saying.

That's not what was said. Rather, what was expressed was that there is no need to overpay for food simply because you're [over]paying to stay on property. As I mentioned above, there are places on- and off-property that you may enjoy at price points similar or slightly beyond.

All due respect, but that IS what was said. I had originally stated that I was paying to stay onsite and therefore preferred to dine onsite. Then, the person who you quoted replied “that makes zero sense.” So, when you said you agreed with that post, you were in fact saying that you agree that it makes zero sense for people staying onsite to prefer to dine onsite. Now, maybe that wasn’t your intention, or maybe you were trying to make another point, but that‘s what you actually agreed with. Anyway, you are certainly entitled to your own opinion, and I respect your right to think whatever you want.

There's no need to argue about what was said or wasn't. It's there. Regardless, if you don't want to have an actual discussion, that's fine too.

I’m not arguing about a thing. I was just correcting your misstatement. I thought you would appreciate that. Anyway, to your point about having a discussion, I’m all for that, but just so you know this isn’t a thread about the merits of eating off property. It’s a thread asking for people’s thoughts on Narcoossee’s.

I have been to Narcoosee's multiple times, plus most of WDW's signature places. The last 2 times we dined at Narcoosee's, I wasn't particularly impressed. The last time was probably in 2019. A big takeaway for me, was just when I saw the bill. in my head I just thought, for this much money - I could easily enjoy 2 meals elsewhere that are considerably better. And I say this as someone who has been going to WDW for MANY years. It used to be better, IMO.

One thing to know about GF. It has one central kitchen. Much of the food, esp things like sauces is made in the central kitchen, or prepped in the main kitchen. (Except V&A's.)

One reason I went to Narcoosee's multiple times was the service, but on our most recent visit, service was just okay, and I'm generally pretty forgive of service.

1. That said, every waitperson can have an off-day, and at every WDW hotel I've had great CM's and less-great CM's. Sometimes management plays a role, but mostly I wouldn't write of any place based on one interaction described by me, a stranger on the internet. WDW chefs also move around form time to time. and people giving their opinion could be talking about 2021, 2020, or an older visit.

2. The views are nice. The bonus though is seeing the water parade and/or fireworks. Definitely missing the fireworks now. If you do decide to go there, the balcony is pretty for photos at dusk.

3. You didn't ask, but probably my favorite signature is Cali Grill. There too, I'd say some visits have been better than others, but the desserts are almost always excellent, the view is super, and the menu has some good variety. Dish presentation there has always been great.

As per this post...you did ask for opinions. When I think of my best FL meals, I too think of places that are not at WDW. At the end of an expensive meal, I can't help but ask myself if the meal was worth what I paid. A few years back, we happened to venture offsite, and had a fabulous meal and the bill came and I was amazed by what we paid. Just since then...it is harder for me to pay WDW prices.

If you ever want to visit a neat little place out in Clearwater, and you like conch chowder, let me know! Oh, I'm hungry thinking about it! (and I already ate dinner tonight.)

When I read your earlier response...it sounded a little like you were emphasizing that you were paying, 'all that money' to be onsite. In my head, I head an emphasis on the word 'all.' So, to me, it read a little like you has slightly mixed feelings about how much it costs to stay onsite. So even though you said you wanted to eat onsite- it sorta sounded like maybe you were open to thinking about offsite? The internet is a strange and crazy place. It is easy to misunderstand what is said sometimes.

I dunno, like I said, whenever I spend $, I ask if something is worth what I spent. I maybe can add, in 2019, for onsite- I thought the club level food at Gran Destino was amazing! Just about the best WDW food I've had in a long time. Unfortunately, all WDW CL's are currently closed. thanks to the pandemic, when the CL does reopen, I doubt it will be the same. It was so good, we never ate at any of the new restaurants there.

Fantastic info! A lot of which I had no idea. Thank you very much for taking the time to post that info. Much appreciated!

I expressed to you my thoughts on not one but two occasions. Rather than engage in a discussion, instead, you chose to have a meandering argument about my understanding about what someone else wrote. As I said before, the record is quite clear.

You are correct, and unfortunately for you the record IS very clear. And for the last time, I’m not arguing with you. As I said, I was simply trying to correct your misstatement. Don’t worry though, I won’t try to help you out anymore. Have a great night, friend!

Sigh.

I just went through this twice on two other threads. I wrote what I though were two very non-controversial posts in two different threads, but one person in each went ballistic on me, and just I really thought my posts were thoroughly bland and non-controversial.

These are just difficult days, I'm afraid. We're all on edge right now.

I don't clearly recall every post by every forum member...but both of you - I think- are generally - posters who have been here a while and post reasonable opinions.

I appreciate that post. And I honestly wasn’t trying to be adversarial, but as I look back I see that I was. So with that @BASS I apologize for being that way. I really do hope you have a great night. And I totally respect your opinion.

I apologize as well. A first on the internet! No hard feelings.

Here's my list of restaurants:

1. Capa. Simply superb. Too bad Disney is not doing the fireworks. It's high up in the Four Seasons and provides a great viewpoint. Kids loved it.
2a. Bluezoo. It looks like the menu has been stripped down post-covid. But I've been going for years and the food has been consistently very, very good.
2b. Jiko. Incredibly unique cuisine. Just not something you'll find even in big cities.
3. Flying Fish. It looks like its temporarily closed.
4. Frontera.
