Thoughts on Cinderellabration

Many of you have expressed a less-than-excited response to the announcement that Cinderellabration is coming to the Magic Kingdom next year, so a couple thoughts to consider:
1. This is a nighttime show, using pyrotechnic effects and outstanding costuming, and therefore need not replace the current Surprise Celebration
2. Having only seen a video of this show, and taking to heart the fact that I didn't understand a word of it (all Japanese), it does look like a really nice show
3. A while back, Anne Hamburger, who designed both Disney's Aladdin--a Musical Spectacular and Snow White--An Enchanting New Musical for the Disneyland Resort confirmed that a Broadway-style show, also designed by her, would be coming to Disney World featuring a new princess. Well, Cinderella is a new princess, and this show is already really good with great costuming--could this be Disney World's next Broadway-style musical, bigger and better than its counterpart in Tokyo? Having seen Aladdin (awesome musical), if Cinderellabration is indeed a Hamburger work, I look forward to it in front of our sparkling, golden castle :) Just some thoughts (particularly the Hamburger idea is purely speculation)

I, for one, am excited to see Cinderellabration! I don't see how people can pooh-pooh it just based on having seen a video of it in Tokyo. First of all, things may change in the transition from Tokyo to Orlando! Simple details such as logistics and the stage itself and cause changes. Not to mention that we'll actually b able to understand what the characters ar saying! ;) Second of all, I am of the opinion that seeing a show on video is a VERY different experience than seeing it in person. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I personally will put a LOT more stock in the opinion of someone who's seen the show in person than someone who's just "seen a video of it." So for all the naysayers out there, I say WAIT.

I have liked what Anne Hamburger has done here at DL. I LOVE Aladdin, and Snow White was also pretty well done. I am excited to see the show, but I will reserve judgement either way until I can see it for myself. :)

SpectroMagic is a parade...Cinderellabration is a show...they will both be presented.

Does Cinderellabration only run at night or during both day and night?

If only at night, then during the summer it's going to have 1 or 2 shows per day in order to get Spectro and Wishes in.

Unless they are planning to cut the pyro out, Cinderellabration is only at night (fireworks on a grayish castle in the Florida sun wouldn't be very impressive). Personally, I am crossing my fingers for the hours we had during the 25th Anniversary Celebration, when I seem to remember MK being open until at least 10 pm every night of the celebration, and MGM always open till 10 pm or so, as well. That would be really nice...

Cinderellabration is in front of Cinderella Castle, on the Castle Forecourt Stage. The video can be found on mIRC.

So would you agree that during May-Aug, we're only looking at 2 shows max. if the hours are until 10 pm? Show at 7, maybe 8, parade at 9, fireworks at 10. I don't see anyway they can have a 2 parade night, unless hours are until 11 or 12.

Once September/October rolls around, you can start having a couple more shows.

They could always modify the current system. If they had an 11 pm closing in July, they could have Cinderellabration at 8:00, 8:45, 9:30, parade at 10:15, fireworks at 11, or when the park closes at midnight, Cinderellabration at 8:00, 8:45, 9:30, parades at 10:15 and midnight, fireworks at 11. It would just give people something to watch while they way for the parade or fireworks. In the winter, of course, you can have this show from like 6 pm and 6:45 (no need for more than two shows on days when the park would close early anyway) and Wishes at 7:30 or Spectro at 7:30 and Wishes at 8:15 or 8:30. It's doable ;) Somehow, Disneyland has Fantasmic! at 9 and 10:30 pm and the fireworks at 9:25 pm every night of the summer:)

Found the video on mIRC under !video->Tokyo Disney->Cinderellabration but the video stops after about 2 minutes and can't see the whole show.

Does this mean that MK will have Cinderellabration, followed by SpectroMagic followed by Wishes !? :veryconfu What sort of time are we looking at for this show ? And if its shown infront of the castle (Dunno if this is right), that place will be SO over crowded. Anyone who can shed a bit more light on this would be great.

That is exactly what I was thinking! Especially if it were like the OP said with a show starting at 7, followed by a parade at 8 and Wishes at 9. There will be people staking out places on Main Street by 5 pm. Looks like they would almost be froced to use the backstage exit during that time.

It's from Japan, so that automatically makes it good

I'd love to see a video of it, but I don't have a degree in astro physics, hence unable to use mIRC.

Main Street cannot get any more crowded than it already gets (wall to wall people), and at least this will give guests something to watch other than the idiots trying to make their way out of the park 5 minutes before Wishes (what is wrong with these people? If you don't want to watch the fireworks, use your brain and leave a half hour before them--but why would you not want to watch Wishes?) Just because there would be a show just before the fireworks or parade doesn't mean you have to watch that show--that's the reason for having multiple shows, and the increase in people in front of the castle will make it even easier to find a spot to watch the parade in Frontierland, for example. Furthermore, not everyone has to see every piece of entertainment every night. Remember that back in the 1950s and 60s, Disneyland had nightly entertainment in every land, and you chose what you wanted to see.

My View

My understanding is that all of the uniqueness that made this show so impressive at Tokyo Disneyland will not be carried over to the Magic Kingdom version. There will not be the beautiful light arches or the fiber optic "glass" fountains that worked together to create that over the top night time light show at the Magic Kingdom. In fact, the show will more than likely be run during the day since the very reason this show was preformed at night will not be present at the Magic Kingdom. Remember at Tokyo Disneyland it was "Cinderellabration--Lights of Romance." At the Magic Kingdom it is just plain "Cinderellabration."
We should also bear in mind that Tokyo's castle stage is twice the size of ours and that this show will be half the size of Tokyo's. Costumes, dancers and characters will be cut from our show. I only want everyone to not get to over hyped up about this show. This will be a great addition to the Magic Kingdom. Wonderful music and great costumes will still be in our version. Cinderella will still be crowned "princess" in our version. But what truly made this show so spectacular at Tokyo Disneyland will not be presented at the Magic Kingdom next year. It will none the less be a great new castle forecourt show.
