Thoughts about Jiko??

Definitely one of WDW's best.

However, you have to be open-minded and willing to try new things. The "steak and potatoes" crowd will definitely not like it there.

Great food, great wine list and service. One of the best meals I've had anywhere, also very expensive- $150.00 for my wife and I including gratuity.

Jiko is great. From the food to the ambience everything is top notch. The prices are high, but you don't leave feeling gouged. I would highly recommend it.

Glad to hear positive things! I was going to start a similar thread... I'm eating there for our anniversary dinner in May.

Any recommendations from the menu?

Worth every $. One of my top places on property. Still upset that they took away the Tuna appetizer and the Monkfish entree. I've gotten over it though.

Jiko is amazing! One of our favorites in Disney! If it's just adults, sitting at the cook's table (where appetizers and flatbreads are made) is a great experience. The cooks there chatted with us and gave us little samples here and there. Wonderful!

How do you get to sit at the cook's table? Do you have to ask for it in advance?

I have eaten at jiko twice and loved it both times. The food and service are top notch. It is a little expensive but worth the money in my opinion. The menu choices are not for everyone so check the menu before eating here. :slurp:

Very very much like Jiko -- we had a local restaurant in Ann Arbor (Zanzibar) that was very similar in seasoning/tastes which has since closed....Jiko is going strong.

One thing to be aware -- if you ate there when it first opened, the seasoning and spices over the years have decreased -- some of the dishes are a bit blander.

It is definitely for those who prefer different seasonings and tastes than just plain pastas and bland meat dishes....but the seasonings have been adjusted down, most likely to please a larger cross-section of diners...

It's an awesome place for fine dining -- ambiance is wonderful, great service, and great food.

It was luck. We were staying at AKL at the time and went in to make our reservation and they just offered it to us. We hadn't known it was available. It may be best now to call ahead and request it when making your reservations.

Wow...great reviews. We will for sure have to try Jiko's on our upcoming trip. I'll ask about the cook's table , too. Thanks for all the info:wave:

Cooks Table or the Cooking Place is the area that looks like a bar with the big ovens to the side. It is where the flatbreads, salads and appetizers are made. I like to sit there if I am dining alone or may be with one person as you are seated bar style. Sometimes they let you sample what they are making and are always willing to chat.

You just ask to sit at the Cooking Place when you check it.

Thanks! I knew what it was, just wasn't sure how to be seated there. Anyway, thanks again!

Jiko was our favorite dinner last year. We were on the DDP and ate at many signature restaurants, but Jiko was absolutely phenomenal! Our server, service, food, table location...everything...was truly magical!!! We're almost afraid to eat there again, because we don't want to spoil our perfect memory of it!
