This year's Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade will be based around 'Frozen'

Aside from the fact that most everyone thought the show was dung this year, looking forward, does anyone think Disney has learned from these reviews? Will they go back to a more natural "parade" format?

Or, Will they blindly continue to let marketing drive their productions to the point that everyone but 4 year old children and their parents will become sick and tired of all things Disney?

We can only hope they learned their lesson.

One could be a fluke. But three? That's pretty consistent. Not to mention the multiple gold/platinum albums.

Yeah, they've managed to hang around and still be successful while some of their contemporaries have faded into one-hit wonder status.

It's like when people say Green Day sucks. They have numerous gold & platinum hits, Grammys, a video game, and a Broadway show. Man, I wish I could suck like that.

Whoa whoa whoa, that's the 3-time Grammy-Award winning band Train you are talking about. A band that's found success in both the 90s and 00s.

Yes I am a fan.

The rest of the show was ****. Only defending Train.

Not making this thread about Train - but I'm glad they have a fan who appreciate their songs and their 3 Grammys.

Not sure why you need to jump in. But it came off rude to me. And being rude doesn't mean resorting to name calling and insults. I don't pick apart anyone's opinion on how much they love Frozen. I expressed, IMO, a well thought out, fair opinion, and he CHOSE to pick apart my statement for whatever reason. All he did was prove my point that you can't express dislike for the movie without an over the top reaction. Sheesh. Heaven forbid someone doesn't like Frozen!

Dislike the movie all you want. What YOU do is constantly express dislike for the PEOPLE who like the movie. It takes a special myopia not to see the difference.

Yep just me and the 4 million others in the U.S. (source: last.fm) That have bought one of their albums.

But anywho, I hope next year's edition will be sans Frozen, more parade and better hosts. As said before, they need another high-energy NPH type who can pull off some kind of big number to kick off the show.

There just weren't any real special live moments to the broadcast.

Edit: none of it is live, but at least something that feels live.

I must have fallen asleep, I thought I was going to see a parade?? All I saw were lip sync performances and an infomercial for Hawaii. Oh, and throw in a dose of heart-warming families reuniting. Seriously, when does the parade start?

I think I know the answer to that one...

The "parade" was a total embarrassment. Every year it gets worse and worse. I will never watch it again. Oh yeah, and Tim Tebow? Really?

Tim Tebow and some Rosie O'donnell in there as well. Gotta love it.

I don't think last years was all that bad... I really enjoyed the opening number and the comedy parts with Neil Patrick Harris and Darth Vader on the Jungle Cruise and all.

They didn't call it the Christmas Day Parade this year, it was called "The 2014 Disney Parks Frozen Christmas Celebration". So instead of a parade they had different music acts sing the songs from Frozen... just incase you hadn't heard the songs from Frozen yet, hopefully they won't try this again in 2015

I think that's what you seem to be doing. If you have an issue with me the board isn't the place to air it. I don't know what I ever did to you but don't stress yourself out over one poster. Don't like my opinion then you have the block feature.

After 10min I had to turn it off. Deleted it already from my PVR. Couldn't handle watching it. I kept wondering when there was going to be an actual parade....

I was wondering when someone would note that they did not actually call it a parade this year. It was essentially called a special, a/k/a "Celebration."

We are just so used to a parade that we had that in our head for that time period.

So, at least that much was better than recent years, only in that they gave up even trying insinuate that it was a live parade. They just gave a Disney parks special about "Frozen" and Christmas (secondary, of course), but hey, that is what the name said it was.

Sad part, of course, is that it SHOULD be the parade, and should still be live -- like they used to do it in the '90s. It had a much more kinetic feel, like the real live Macy's parade does on Thanksgiving. But I guess they felt like that was too expensive or hard to do -- or that this was cheaper (not working the production people and celebrities on a holiday) and better for the marketing department. But I still say the kinetic energy of a live parade from Walt Disney World (yes, only Disney World, not three resorts in three different time zones) is itself a great bit of marketing.

At least it says mostly what it is this year: a Frozen Christmas Special. The only way they could improve upon the name would be to call it "The 2014 Disney Parks 'Frozen' Christmas Info-mercial."

The latter of course

But, alas, being a fan I am completely biased.

So just trying to lay the facts out and show they have been recognized in the highest form by their industry.

Train was at one time an a list musical act, unfortunately it is no longer this just shows the utter contempt TWDC has for its customers as they outsourced the production and did Frozen songs BADLY by a bunch of musical has-been artists who are on the state fair circuit.

No insult intended to fans of those artists but they are no longer popular even if they have multiple Grammy on the mantelpiece

WE CAN ONLY HOPE that Disney has seen the error of its way and is in a mad dash to make next years parade a TRUE PARADE! and reel us back in to watch! I will always love Disney and the Parks, but with Disney SHOWING they really don't care with the hap hazard way of fixing things and cheap overlays of popular attractions and just the way they seem to be out for a quick buck, it makes me sad to see Walt's dream being tarnished. I think they whole organization needs to be fired and hire DISNEY FANS like us to run it the way WALT would have wanted it ran! You don't need to have degrees of education to see that this FAMOUS COMPANY of Characters will be obsolete in the future if its let go to be ran the way it is now! THAT makes me sad!

We can only hope that someone will some clout is watching and reading this thread and reporting back to the execs! I wonder what the DLR boards look like on this subject? I will check it out and report back later!
