I recieved the same calls, and I also got many IM's.
Mostly they were before the man was announced dead, but afterwards, they want to talk to me to find out about the man, and family ect. Everyone I talked to show much respect for the man and the family, they just wanted to know information, just like the rest of us.

I found nothing disrespectful in the post.

I also had many people asking me if I had any "inside" knowledge about the incident, since most of my friends know that I go frequently, and am acquainted with several CMs. I've had people ask me about resorts, parks, restaurants, etc.

I think mkepcotmgmak just had an experience which dramatically pointed out his expert status in the neighborhood, and wanted to share it with people he thought would understand and appreciate it.

In any discussion of any tragedy, there is usually an implied (or stated) sympathy for the victim. Most people, if they are honest about it, want to know details so they can determine the probability of something similar happening to them or their family. I'm not sure that it's neccessary to preface every remark with an acknowledgement of the suffering and loss involved; we're all well aware of it.

I think you misunderstood what mkepcotmgmak was saying....read the post again....cause your post is the one that has come off as being disrespectful.... :animwink:

But I know where you are coming from...some people have taken this whole incident as some sort of entertainment......this post didn't have that tone though....

And yes I was called, Imed and emailed by peeps...its kinda weird and funny at the same time that people consider us as disney experts and some of us don't even work fo Disney.

first of all let me state that I did not mean any offense, or to make entertainment of the situation - but it looks like everyone knew that except for CHAPPS - who is new here.

My greatest sympathies go out to the family of the man who lost his life while on vacation, as well as the injured and all of the CMs who are striving to uphold the magic at a time like this, this has to be tough.

just to clarify, if clarification is needed, all i meant by my original post was that i have received many phone calls, and been stopped a few times, about what happened. maybe i should have worded my original post with more sympathy in it, and for that I am sorry - but i meant no harm. i was on the college program for wdw and many people know that, i live in a small town, so a lot of people, caring sympathetic people, just wanted to know what was going on - they assumed that i would know all the details, but i only knew as much as they did -

CHAPPS - you really shouldn't just assume things and stir trouble, thats not welcomed here on these boards. cool down a bit - i think you should know that if we are all disney fans on these boards that we have some sort of goodness and wouldn't make entertainment out of a subject like this.
