I recently sent an e-mail to guest services regarding somethings I have heard. It reads like this:

"I just wanted to e-mail you on some concerns I have been having recently with Disney!

While I know it is not official as of now I have heard a rumor that in October of 2005 there is a possibility of Carousel of Progress being shut down to make way for a new Flying Saucer bumper car ride. I would hate to see this happen as Walt Disney once said that he would never want to see this attraction close. I have been very happy to see the attraction open for such a long period of time. Every time I go to the Magic Kingdom and it is open I make sure I ride it several times during my stay at the Walt Disney World Resort. I would hate to see such a wonderful ride be replaced with a cheap carnival ride. That is not the Disney way.

My next concern is the new Garden Grill menu. I have noticed that is has become a very upscale dinning experience when I last ate there on Saturday April 24th. I for one would like the old menu to return! If I wanted to go to a big fancy dinner I would go to World Showcase and eat in France or Mexico or Japan. I felt the Garden Grill was a wonderful place to go to have a nice relaxed meal with my Family along with some of my favorite Disney pals! What could be better than that? Besides now where in Epcot will you be able to go to a nice sit down restaurant that is affordable that doesn't have princesses destroying the theme of the restaurant?"

I then get this in my inbox today:

"Thank you for your e-mail to the Walt Disney World® Resort.

We appreciate the time you took to contact us. We wanted to let you
know that we have received your message and are reviewing it. If you
will provide us with your phone number and an indication of the best
time to reach you as a reply to this message, one of our representatives
will contact you directly within the next few weeks.

Sincerely,

Executive Offices
Walt Disney World® Resort"

I had something similar. I submitted a complaint about a CM at the TTC. In my original mail, I included my contact info. A week or so later, I received a call from someone at the MK saying that my email had been sent to the head of the MK and he had read my email. They told me that they were taking care of the problem and apologized for my experience. Sounds like they are going to assure you that they are listening. Go ahead and send the info.

A phone call is considered a much more personal touch than an email. It impressed me. Although, I always thought that it was funny that they only respond to my complaints, but not when I send a compliment.

Also...most likely, the issues may be logged by your home phone number just like reservations are.

I would imagine one main reason for doing it htis way would be to see if the same person is filing many complaints using different computer Screen Names in an attempt to get something free out of WDW or to disparage a Cast Member.

It's harder to do that and less likely to happen if you have to leave your home phone number.

Anybody can hide behind your screen name. Only you can hide behind your home phone listing!

I sent a compliment once, and they called to thank me for sending it.

"Hope from the Executive Offices of Walt Disney World" has called me perhaps more times than she would've liked to. When I complained about our stay at the Polynesian she sent a letter for 10% off our next stay there. :)

I went to give rep Grizz for being a very helpful source only to remember that it's not there anymore!

What they responded to you with is a standard form-letter. I too have found that if you leave a phone number, it means you're serious.

I really don't think mailing executives accomplishes much - nor gives you much credibility unless it's something they work directly with.

A larger overall campaign etc. would make sense - but the above letter for example would just look silly sent to executives. I think it's a matter of barking up the wrong tree. File 13 does exist at Disney too.

I guess what i'm trying to say is that if you want to be taken seriously, you have to act properly. The above letter sent to the proper area or with a note to be forwarded to the proper area by the powers that be would do just that. Sending it to Eisner et al? That's silly.

But I didn't send this to Esiner! I sent this to guest services! From there they can send it to where ever they like.
