On November 18...

The premiere of the short animated cartoon “Steamboat Willie” by Walt Disney occurred in New York City on this day in 1928. The Mickey Mouse cartoon was the first to use synchronized sound. From 1929 to 1939 Disney produced his “Silly Symphonies” series of sound cartoons. In 1937 the first feature length cartoon was released by the name of “Snow White”. It became one of the most successful films of the times.

In 1918, Walt left for France as a member of the American Ambulance Corps.

In 1928, "Steamboat Willie" premiered.

In 1932, "Flowers and Trees" received the 1st Academy Award given for a cartoon.

In 1988, "Oliver & Company" was released.
