Trip Report Third time’s the charm- Sorta kinda live-Now with bonus content!

We’re going back! Hey everyone it’s me, the Loco. Like many of us here in our little community, I missed out on a few Disney trips thanks to the pandemic. We originally had plans for a west coast trip back I the summer of 2020, but that clearly was a no go. We had a backup plan of visiting WDW in September, but a change of jobs for me forced us to cancel that since I wouldn’t have any available leave time(I started the new job in august). That leads us to now, trip number three, and we are a go! Our last trip was February of 2020 just before the world went bananas, but that seems like decades ago at this point!
Its Been A Long Time Waiting GIF

So Let’s do this! I’ll get the intros and details out of the way.

Who: Those of you who have read any of my older reports know it will be me and the wife. She’s the good looking one in the picture below, which would make me the slightly inebriated one.

Anyone remember the throwback TR we did last year featuring Molli and Chris getting engaged?

Where:
Four nights here

Followed by three nights here

Wait, not there. I mean the real wilderness lodge! Copper creek villas to be exact.

When: Approximately 48 hours from right now. Am I ready? Of course not. Being the man, I’m contractually obligated to wait until the last second to pack, and to forget something super important!

We are excited to get back “home”, even with the restrictions and missing entertainment. I have to admit that it’s been nice not having to plan quite as much. I just made park passes and a few dining reservations and that was that. I’m in the camp that believes fast pass actually inflated wait times for most attractions, and I am not particularly sad to see it go.

We’ll be driving down since we planned this trip before vaccines were widely available and we were still a little on the fence about flying. I feel more comfortable with it now, but prices have skyrocketed, so I’ll just stick with the road trip.

Will I be putting the loco in Loco_Driver by doing the entire trip in one day? Even I don’t know the answer to that yet. Check back Friday!
Confused Gavin Free GIF by Rooster Teeth

Will I partake in mine and @Tuvalu beloved WCC burnt ends nachos, or a No Way Jose?
Step Brothers Yep GIF by reactionseditor

Will any fellow magicians be making appearances?

So with all that out of the way, let’s goooo!

Yeah there are pretty much no benefits to paying extra to stay on Disney property other than maybe Disney transportation if you wanna call that a perk. Some friends of ours who used to always stay onsite just got back from a weeks stay in a vacation house near MK where they paid less than they would have to stay at Caribbean Beach. The house had four bedrooms and a private pool with a hot tub in the back. They say they’ll never stay onsite again now.

Thanks for the kind words. I’m glad I could help. We still enjoyed our time at WDW and can’t wait to go back, but it’s certainly far from perfect right now!
Well, I do like the transportation aspect of it just because when I've been in the parks all day, I am exhausted. I don't have a drivers license anymore, so my husband has to do all the driving. (Hopefully that will be changing within the next couple of months!) He likes to have a beer with dinner when he's on vacation, but he can't if he has to drive, so staying on site is really nice for him. I'm not a huge drinker....if I have 5 drinks in a year, it's a lot. I think I had more than that on our last Disney trip alone, so that IS a perk in my mind. BUT, not sure if it's worth that much. I'm considering Swan/dolphin for the next trip. My understanding is you get the same perks like early booking of FPs and ADRs, but it's cheaper, AND you can walk to Epcot and HS. Epcot is my favorite park, so that's a huge plus for me. We used to stay offsite with friends, but that didn't work so well the last time we did that, so we started staying at CBR, and we do like it, but slowly those perks are disappearing and it's not as worth it anymore. If my husband was willing to take an Uber, staying offsite wouldn't be an issue, but he won't use ride sharing services. As much as I like leaving the driving to someone else, it may be time to start looking at other places.

Thanks again, Loco driver, for making our winter, disneyless, time go by quicker.
It's fun to see the meets with fellow dissers.
Hopefully, we will all have a chance to meet one day.
Our next trip this year is disneyland, Yea!
Wait, it’s still winter?! 🤣 Seriously though I see there’s been snow up your way. It was even in the 30s here this morning, an extremely rare occurrence this far into spring!

Swan/Dolphin is a great choice that is usually around the same price of CBR. They no longer use Disney bus service though, so getting to MK or AK may be a pain. I’m not sure what bus service they’re using now. The location is hard to beat though and honestly you could just walk to yacht to use the Disney buses if you needed. There is still something to be said about being in “the bubble”, but it’s slowly eroding away.

Well, I do have to say, prices from here are different. It's so weird. If I use windscribe, I can log into the US site and do price checks that way. But if I use the European site, the prices are different and which ones are most expensive changes. The offerings are completely different. If I go to the US site, I can book at the Poly, but it doesn't even come up in the list on the UK or the EU sites. On the EU and UK sites, I can book at AKL Villas and kidani village, or at Copper Creek, but those don't come up on the US site and the EU price is almost 1000 per night more than the UK listing. And the EU page has higher prices across the board. With the same dates, number of people, and ages, on the US site, Pop is 209 per night....UK is 222 per night, and EU is 258 per night....that's all been converted to US dollars. Grand Floridian, US says 689 per night, UK = 714 per night, EU = 935 per night. And none will give me a rate for swan/dolphin. CBR, US says 286 per night, UK= 328 per night, and EU= 425 per night. Swan and Dolphin don't come up on the Disney pages at all, but I looked up their site separately and the rooms there were listed at 215 per night for non-members....so a little more than half the price of CBR. I don't know why the prices vary so much depending on where you book. The EU site is new since Brexit.....we used to use the UK site. I'm going to have to make all kinds of charts next time we go to see what gets us the best deal!

Hey @Loco_driver I have a funny story for you and a video for you to watch....

So my husband and I had a little happy hour today at home and we put on an Epcot walk through. It was filmed on April 15 as we were sipping our drinks I joked with him about how funny it would be if I recognized one of the magicians that were in WDW at that time in the video. Well literally seconds later I see a really tall guy with a shorter lady (no offense on sizes). And I said I think that's Loco and his wife. And creeper that I guess I am I went back in your report and even though I only saw you from behind in the video it was you and your wife! In the video you two are in the Canada area and then your wife is standing by a pole in the UK pavilion. I thought that was kind of funny and thought I'd share.

I've linked the video and your appearances are at the 10:37 mark and that continues for awhile with the video person looking at a few other things here and there and then the last time around the 14:18 mark.

Haha that’s so crazy that you caught that! We saw A LOT of YouTube/blogger people at the parks, but none that I really recognized. I actually remember this one because we were behind them going across the bridge from UK to France. We were headed to France for macrons and beignets. I had to stop in the UK for a quick bathroom break(TMI?), which is why A is standing there by herself.

I don’t usually follow bloggers but sometimes we will throw on a walk through video. Now it makes me wonder who’s pictures and video I might be in.

I’m the same way. Now I wonder how many videos I made it into last week. You can tell which ones are bloggers or YouTubers by the giant fuzzy microphones attached to their cameras. One night at Epcot they were testing the moving arms on the stargate ring, and a bunch of them came running towards us. The next day they had added lots of decorations to the castle, and they came running again!

Has it really been four months already?! How about a little bonus live(ish) TR for ya. We’re taking it slow this week with zero park time, so don’t expect too much excitement!

We made it a two day road trip this time, which was a good choice since we spent well over an hour in traffic between Baton Rouge and the gulf shore beach areas!

We made it to our hotel in Tallahassee a little later than planned, this was on the toilet. 😂

No traffic issues this morning though. We made it our resort in no time!

I recognize the bread and sauces (yum!) but what are we seeing in the third and fourth pics? Do you recommend those?
Tandoori chicken on naan, and African triple chocolate mousse. Both highly recommended. The chicken was cooked to perfection and had great flavor. The mousse was great as well. Not too heavy which was nice after a meal like that!
