Pre-Trip Think the undoable and do the unthinkable

I have some great news! Last November we decided not to go back to WDW in October 2015. The flights from Amsterdam to Orlando were much more expensive so we decided to postpone it to 2016. Maybe some short trips to DLP and a summer vacation in Southern Europe was what we wanted to do!

But when we got married in 2010 we said that in the year we are married 5 years we go to Florida!

Then we try to find a decent summer vacation and well.... when we compared it to the prices we have to pay for a WDW trip in October..... :)

So we thought, what the heck! Let's do it! And do it even better than last October! Let's go into a Disney hotel! And we are married 5 years by the time we are in WDW!

So guess what, we booked our trip for October 2015! WDW here we come again! We booked a room in the All Star Movie Resort from October 16th until October 24th :)

Update 02-02-2015: When we booked the trip we tried to book a room in the Port Orleans French Quater, but it was all fully booked. But last Friday I found out that the resort was open for bookings again. So I called the travel agency and guess what?? We upgraded to Port Orleans!!!!!!!

Update 24-06-2015: Guess what :) We booked another WDW trip! October 2016 will be the second future visit!! And with a lot of advantages :) 200$ gift card, free Memory Maker, Ultimate tickets for 14 days for the price of 7 and a free dining plan! And this time we are staying at Port Orleans River Side!!

Who:
Me, my wife Ria and our daugther Sacha (last time we went with a group of 7, now just our family)

When:
October 16th - October 24th (so we can go to the Not So Scary again!)

So from now on I will keep you informed when there is news from this side of the ocean!

We are really thrilled we are coming back to WDW! The feeling is very good but is getting better by the day!

Sorry all, I know it is a Disney forum, but we are so excited about Tuesday night I have to share it with you and especially @coachwnh !

Sorry that it took me a day... it was a really short night of sleep and yesterday was a day at work full with meetings :) And I had to transfer the pictures on my phone to the comp :) It will not be that many pics, Sacha took much more pics, she will email me later today :)

And what did Sacha think for the first time? I was just telling Brayden how she got Two Hearts just like he did in NYC! Great first show!!!!

Well what did Sacha think :) I guess I created a new U2 addiction.. haha lol. She thought it was great! From the 25 numbers she knew about 20! And the way the crowd reacted and sang every song from the first line to the last line :) It was marvelous to her! She told yesterday morning that when so woke up she was totally in U2 mood :) And listening again and again to the videoclips she took during the show and to the new album... Iris and Raised by wolves are her favs!! And yes it was great she had Two Hearts just like Brandon! So great that they played that song! The Ziggo Dome exploded when theystarted to play the song it! And Sacha was totally surprised how I experience a U2 concert... she said I never saw you like this before, singing so loud with the band an jumping around and so... Especially during Out of Control what is I guess my all time Fav (except Acrobat, but they will never play it :)

I keep wanting to ask more questions. You were on the floor tonight, right? Did you stand closer to the E stage?

Ask ask ask and ask :) We were on the floor. We arrived at 15.00 and by that time the line was already long. We had to choose between main and e-stage. We decided to stay with the e-stage. And it paid out. We were so close. Just around 3 meters away from Bono and the rest of the band! We had just 2 people before us and the last half an hour they placed Sacha just on the front row. We were to concerts before, one time was in a small venue with a Dutch band called 'Doe Maar' (great band in the 80's). We were also close by to the band that time... and after the U2 show Sacha said.. wow if I had reached my hand I could have touched Bono. I told her about the 'Doe Maar' show and she said... "hej Mies 'Doe Maar' was great but that band is only known in the Netherlands... this is about U2, everybody in the world knows them and we were just 2 meters away". Love that reaction :) I have some pictures here, but more to come the next couple of days. And remember Saturday is night #2 for us! And we still have the floorbracelet so maybe we can slip in, although Ria is joining us and does not have the bracelet :) The show was really great and marvelous and when you look at the different Dutch newspapers only superlatives! U2 is back as the greatest band at the moment :)

The line when we arrived at 1500... just 4,5 hour wait for opening the doors :)

The line behind us.... we should have been earlier, but on the other hand... looking at that line :)

IMG_1392.JPG

We got the Bracelet :) The Southside of the floor :)

IMG_1393.JPG

As I mentioned... just 2/3 meters away from the e-stage! And looking at the above right corner of the picture you can see where will be next Saturday.

Bono just stepped up at the e-stage when starting the show with The Miracle :)

(null)1.jpg

Also Edge came close by :)

IMG_1412.JPG

We also had a good look on the screen :)

(null)2.jpg

If I had reached.... so close by :)

Here Bono is picking the girl for Mysterious Ways.... quite a lady ;)
IMG_1418.JPG

Every Breaking wave was marvelous with just the piano and Bono!! One was closing the show. Bono just sang 3 lines, the rest was done by the Ziggo Dome... partly special.. partly seems like the voice was not that great I guess... but overall... a great raw and rocking U2! The only thing I missed was the Shine on part at the end of With or Without you.

Now we have to wait before it is Saturday. We are not on the floor.....but maybe we manage to do so! And let's see what the setlist will bring us! Yesterday was also a great show by what I read on the net... and Desire and Angel of Harlem... but the rest of setlist was quite standard!

I understand but we also did a major bathroom repair.

I understand completely, we had a major two sleeping room change... But by the we bought the tickets for the 2 U2 shows we didn't know about that and the 2016 WDW trip I even thought about trying to get tickets for the November shows in their hometown Dublin but the fanclub tickets were gone in 4,30 minutes and the regular tickets in 12 (6 shows!!). Matbe next tour (2016/2017) we manage to get tickets fir a foreign show. We're thinking about Barcelon. The Spanish crowd is superb and totally crazy from what I heard. And maybe someday in New York

Trying to justify if its worth going to one of the upcoming Europe shows as well, but the one night package with tix from the U2 site are almost 2100 for my wife and I. The flight and three other days to Paris or London is not even $1500 (British airways or American with a hotel)! Would be a dream anniversary trip, but not going to happen

hej, yes it is quite an expensive experience. Same for me is to see the guys in USA. I have seen them in several cities in Netherlands and Europa...... 47 times by the way ;) Guess the next time we will see them in Barcelona, the Spanish crowd is totally crazy people say..... and today the Dublin shows are going in presale... fanclub tickets wil go fast... the hottest tickets in Ireland this week I guess :)
