God bless the "Ignore" button.
Last time we went, We had done the Woody & Jessie M&G in MK. The wait was easily 20-30 minutes. Behind us in line was a young - 20's - couple. At least 15 minutes into the wait and not at the front of the line yet, the guys starts yelling out "Andy's coming!!!!" Keep in mind this was during another guests' M&G. The couple was so annoyed that they didn't drop on the spot!! When I told him that the characters don't do this because of numerous safety concerns, he said, "but I saw it on the internet!" yeah... ok buddy...

They got off the line & didn't even bother to meet the characters. ...

I've had that same discussion with fellow guests. They love to believe the internet...

1. Pretty sure there are small utilidors under EPCOT as well...nothing like the MK system though. They are limited to the Communicore / Innoventions area.

2. They don't sell gum on property, but there's still plenty of places you'll see it on the ground. My daughter spotted a smushed piece in EPCOT last trip and thought it was a hidden mickey (it was smushed in such a way it did look like it could be a Mickey).

when do we start differentiating between Utilodors and Basements lol

30. The 14-story “Tree of Life” in the middle of Animal Kingdom is actually an old oil rig.
Well, its uses the same base structure as they do for oil rigs but it's completely new. So, half accurate?

Why would anyone get annoyed if someone shouted "Andy's coming". Aren't people allowed to have a bit of fun? The characters just won't react that's all.

Not everyone reads every Disney forum to know this is a bit of a myth but that photo went viral big time.

Because it comes to a point of being distracting and makes things awkward for everyone.

Heading for the great escape.
They have been designated places of special historical interest by the UN, largely due to the vast numbers of old attractions and building still running and preserved.

I wasn't annoyed at all if that's what you think.. I was more amused that a 20-something had waited 15 minutes to see a character fall to the ground. I found it more amusing that he walked off a line he had patientely waited on. I REALLY found it amusing when the "As seen on the internet" dream was shattered.

Not annoyed - amused

Sorry, wasn't having a pop at you. Just seen a lot about it on here in the past and people seem surprised some guests don't know as much as others. No offence was meant.

none was taken :D I actually really got a kick out of knowing more than him. of course my husband was rolling his eyes at me. But it's so rare that I get a delusional sense of superiority - I'll take it when I can get it.

Regarding the Twilight Zone props- on my trip in October, I was looking around the library/ video room, and the cast member noticed and asked me what I was looking for. I mentioned Burgess Meredith's glasses, and she broke character a bit and said, "They took those out, apparently." :(

Could they be in the other library room perhaps?

Disney calls them Utilidors, so that's what we call tunnels in Disney World.

Now, the people who want to pretend to be technical will quickly correct you if you call them the basement, because "they're really the first floor". Those people are wrong, because by building code definition, the first floor of any building is that which is fully above grade - sometimes referred to as the Ground Level. A partially or fully buried floor is a basement, sub-floor, or lower level.

The Utilidors are mostly tunnels, by definition, as they are narrow corridors buried on three sides by earth. But the majority of the MK core, especially under Main Street, is quite literally a buried building....partially the basement to the MO buildings, and partially just a buried story, like under the pavement and open areas.

So, it's easiest to just use Disney's term. :-)
