Things to Pass the Time Between Visits

Great News:: I'm in the process of planning a very special Disney trip! I've been to Disney numerous times, but this trip is special because it is the first time we are staying on Disney property and since my kids are in their teens, this may possibly be our last big family trip before the kids move on to their own lives. I want it to be extra memorable.

Bad News:: This trip is probably not going to happen until 2014. For me, planning is almost as exciting as the trip itself, but the waiting is killing me.

What are some things all of you do in between trips to pass the time and get your Disney fix for the day? My daily ritual has been just researching and viewing forums and writing things I want to remember in my "official Disney planning notebook".:p

What are some of the things you folks find yourselves doing when you are Disney Dreaming???

The time between my trips to WDW is rarely measured in years, and often is measured in weeks, but hanging around this Forum is usually the extent of my Disney fix.

1.) WDWMagic Forum, occasionally I drop into other forums... but I think this is the best place with the friendliest people.
2.) Martin's Videos... just the best
3.) I have a nice playlist on spotify and grooveshark which help the cravings
4.) even a visit to my local Disney store does the trick
5.) SAVING! because Disney is EXPENSIVE and it sucks having to stay in cheaper resorts and cut corners.

My last trip, where I became engaged (at the beach club) was my first stay on property and let me tell you... once you get the bug, you never go off again. Sure, its more expensive... but there is something about your stay onsite that just brings more magic

can we trade... this snow in boston sucks!

Yes, I'm sure that the rather unpleasant New England weather is putting a damper on your water skiing plans. However, let's not lose our heads and forget that the beloved temple of baseball indulgence called Fenway Park will be opening within a few months. Until then, I'll think of you fondly as I lounge, bedecked in my Red Sox shorts while sipping on a cool liquid refreshment, contemplating the ramifications of the Scutaro trade. :)

I'm right there with you on a couple of fronts, UPbeekeeper!! I absolutely LOVE planning our WDW vacations too! It's funny, but just booking everything and thinking about it and planning all the little details is almost as exciting to me as the actual trip! :hammer: Crazy, I know, but the trip seems to go by SO fast once you get down there (10 days usually) whereas the planning seems to keep me busy MUCH longer. I was usually thinking about/planning the next vacation a month or two after returning from the previous one and would head in to our local CAA office 1 year out to actually book the next one and put money down on it.

We have been every 2 years since 2005, but right now, it looks like it is going to be a few years before we are able to head back down again. The funny thing is my wife and I were just supposed to go by ourselves last trip to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary, but I (like yourself) figured it might be our last big family vaca since our kids were 14 and 19 and figured they were at that perfect age to enjoy all the bigger rides and that now. Well, guess what??? Even though I SWORE last year would be our last big family vacation (couple of minor incidents and one love struck teen boy the whole trip) and that everything from here on out was just going to be my wife and I for a while, we are already talking about bringing them with us on the next one in a few years. :hammer: So never say never I guess!

Anyways....to actually ANSWER your question now: :p

-I usually spend a lot of time on here in between trips. I read up on all the future changes coming to the parks to see what we can expect or look forward to when we get down there. I also like to read a lot of the trip reports posted by others on here and look at all the picture threads.

-I will look at our own vacation pictures and videos on the computer every now and again. The family will all share a few laughs at how we've changed through the years or at a certain memory a picture might bring back.

-I talk about WDW with my one buddy (the one who got me hooked on going actually) or my wife and kids. Besides my immediate family, my buddy is the only other person that I talk to that has been. So we'll sit there sometimes and talk about past trips or what we miss the most about being down there. And I don't think there is a day go by in our household that someone doesn't mention something about WDW.

-Lastly, I pop on Disney music every now and again to remind me of being in the parks. I found this one CD at a garage sale last summer from Epcot's Millennium Celebration and have been listening to it like nuts lately, usually while on the forums here late at night. Just reminds me SO much of being in my favourite park!

Sorry I made that so long, just hard to stop typing sometimes when you get going! :ROFLOL: Anyways, happy planning and don't worry...that next trip will be here before you know it!

I hope I am not breaking any rules here with this suggestion....but I belong to a site called eyesonears. While visiting WDW, some of our members stream live from resorts and/or mobile stream from the parks. It's a very friendly site and we have some amazing views to share. Of course, the availability of the streams is dependent on our members vacation schedule. It's a great way to get your Disney fix between trips.

We are arriving in 9 days!!! We've been going to see the cinamatic re-releases in 3d. Putting on the glasses and the only thing mission is Goofy telling me move to the end of the row!

Get a Disney Visa card and charge responsibly. This way, in addition to reading every tip out there, you can enjoy your vacation at a lower cost than if you paid 100% out of pocket. I am a charter member and after 4 1/2 years of charging, we earned enough Disney $$$ for four free tickets and a couple of hundred off our hotel bill. I buidling them up now for hopefully a trip for Christmas!! The last three trips we took, we had some Disney dollars, which really helped.

We have "Disney Days" around our house, that usually involve a few of the following:

-Watching a Disney movie. Start collecting them if you haven't - it's a fun way to pass the time!
-Listening to Disney music. I like the Four Parks, One World double disc set since it's music from the attractions. It makes you feel like you're there. I like the Disney Greatest hits album's as well.
-Play Disney Board games. There's a ton out there. We just got Disney Guess Who & Disney Apples to Apples. There's plenty of monopoly versions out there, as well as Life, Sorry, Trouble, etc. All have multiple Disney versions.
-Order the planning videos - even the cruise & DL ones. They're fun to watch. There's sometimes travel specials on tv as well.

Just keep Disney as part of your everyday life, and the time will fly! Obviously WDWMagic daily visits are a must too. :)
