Disney should make Critter Country back into Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom is Disneyland! So, the Winnie the Pooh ride should move to Fantasyland in that case. Critter Country is not in touch with the Disneyland theme.

Why is it not in touch?

 Because the idea of critter country seems like a small theme and not important to the whole Disneyland idea. Plus, Critter Country is a dumb idea for a themed area.

This seems highly biased on your part, I don't think many will agree with you... I feel that the setup of DL allows Critter Country to be a great seperate land. Although, I feel that the Country Bears should have stayed, and Pooh could have been an addition, then the land really would have a good assortment to be a seperate land. But what do I know, I've never been to DL, I've only seen the maps and some tapes of the place. :)

I believe it did have a different name at one time... I could be wrong. But exactly, I feel it has a joint theme over there, just needs more to compliment the area.

The name could change, but aren't all the animals in Splash Mountain a bunch of ol' critters anyway. But is Pooh a critter??

Well, yeah, but Back Country Woods or whatever I called it would be better. Because the characters from song of the south live in a forest-like area right? And Winnie the Pooh lives in the 100 acre wood, so Country Woods would be a less goofy name and it wuld complement its surroundings. Plus Critter Country used to be called Bear Country.:hurl:

I have never really had any trouble with the name or concept of Critter Country and I am very picky when it comes to thematics.

1) It fits @ Disneyland because it is (atleast supposed to be) a romantisized look at the "South", and any romantic-impressionistic land would fit with Disneyland's theme of Imagination (yes, it started as Walt's TV shows and movies, but for extension and addition purposes it must be considered as Imagination, which is an underlying core anyways)

2) The name Critter fits with "song of the south" type language, and all of the creatures in that area are animals a.k.a. Critters. Country is a larger view of the a Southern-like terrain, "out in the Country", or it can be looked as a terrestrial animal realm(ie Bear Country, would be a common slang for an area where bears live) even though most of this Country area is woods, it sounds better to have consonance with Critter Country. So while the second word may not be the best as far as describing the area, it is the most pleasent sounding to the ear, which many times in the indsutry is more important.

There are many things that one could be critical of Disney for in their theme parks, but truley I do not see how Critter Country is one of them...

I believe it may have been called that, as well as "Indian Village" way back in early-to-mid history of Disneyland... It was considered a land part of Frontierland, a mini-land of sorts, like Chester and Hester's...

there must be some bad mojo going round critter country today, since theres another board about it. ive never been there and after reading this i dont want to. New word of the day-MOJO

What is Critter country? I went to DL in ´85 so I really don´t remember the areas you talked about...maybe the indian village, but I didn´t really notice it.

If Critter country is a "land" for insects, I am certainly not going in there! :animwink:

Maria!... You don't know Critter Country?!...

It's the quaintest land in the Happiest Place on Earth (actually, it was the quaintest land until Disneyland's CB show closed down for Pooh...;) )...
