I booked my air/ground/etc through Disney and I picked an early flight because I want to get into Orlando as early as possible. My flight has now been changed from arriving at MCO at 1pm to 515pm!! Can I call Disney to see if I can still get an earlier flight?

Any help would be fantastic!!

I've had similar problems with Airlines, I call and if they can't fix it they'll often offer an alternative. A lot depends on why they changed it.

Call, it can't hurt.

Hmmm....let me guess...is it United by any chance?

I suspect the airline didn't just change your flight times, it sounds like changed their schedule, completely cancelled your flight and rebooked you onto a completely new flight. (Check your flight numbers - they will have changed if this is the case.) When this happens, the airlines pick the flights most convenient to THEM to put you onto, they don't give a fig about how inconvienced you are. But the good news is you can fight it.

First, do your research. Find flights you would find acceptable on the same airline, on the day you are coming in, that the airline is still selling seats on. Then call the airline (I don't think Disney will be able to do anything about this but all you need is your airline confirmation number - I presume Disney gave you that). Demand they rebook you onto the flights YOU want. They'll probably put up a fight, but stand your ground. Ask to speak to a supervisor, or get the number for the customer complaints group and call them if need be.

If the airline has nothing you find acceptable, and you can get what you consider a good deal on another airline with times you like, insist they give you a full refund. (I vaguely remember something about if they change your arrival or departure time by more than 2 hours you have more rights, but I can't remember the details and I could be off my rocker...)

I just had this happen last week with United. In my case, they rebooked me onto a flight coming home that wouldn't get in until midnight. Since I was travelling alone with a 7-year-old, and I'm going to be dealing with luggage, getting out to long term parking, etc., midnight simply wasn't a possibility for me. When I called them, they insisted for quite awhile nothing could be done. However, after pushing them over and over, they finally agreed to rebook me - the next day in my case - onto the flights I wanted. And this was with FF tickets :) So it can be done. Just don't let them tell you otherwise!!

It's Delta. As of right now they don't have anything earlier out of my town (FSD) - I'm going to keep checking daily though!

Thanks everyone!

Delta is infamous for changing flights. I'm sorry you booked with them. If it's an option, cancel and rebook with another carrier, even if it costs a little more and requires driving to another airport.

That POS should not have made it out of bankruptcy.

Continental has changed our flights twice so far. We booked in March for September. We are now arriving 2 hours later and leaving around 3 hours earlier. When I called to ask why they said that they have the right to reschedule and change our flights within a 4 hour window. Outside of 4 hours, they have to give us a choice. If we want to change them now, we have to pay $150 change fee per ticket plus the difference if fare, if any. So, they just took 5 hours off of our time at Disney..................:(

Most airlines tweak their schedules seasonally, adding some flights, changing the times of some flights, cancelling some flights. This is normal. I never expect to really know my flight numbers and times more than 3 months out. Anything booked before then I expect to change, although hopefully by not more than an hour or so. The problem seems to be, though, that airlines are now changing their schedules closer and closer to departure date, and with larger swings in times, so you can't really be confident in your flight times until the day of!

But - as I said in my previous post - if you don't like your new flight times, take it up with the airline and stand your ground, even when they give you something like the we-have-the-right-to-change-things-by-up-to-x-hours line. Don't get nasty, but just insist that there is no way you would EVER have booked flights at the times they now have you at. Give them a concrete reason why it is a problem other than it's inconvenient to you - e.g. you are travelling with young children and can't take an extremely early/late flight, you have issues with transportation to/from the airport at the new hours, you have an appointment that cannot be moved, etc. If the agent you are speaking to keeps giving the same can't-do-anything-for-you line, try "So there is NOTHING you can do for me?" - for some reason, that line seems to work alot for me. Maybe it's because you are calling them directly on their refusal to be of service. Who knows. But if that still doesn't work, ask to speak to a supervisor or ask for the customer complaints department number - again, nicely but firmly.

I've never had a problem getting flights I find more acceptable taking the above approach. Sometimes it takes a few calls, but eventually I find someone willing to work with me.

Between September and February, Continental changed our flights four times. It sure made planning those days interesting

I also have had my flight times changed. Both this trip and a past time. Was with Airtran...went from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. departing time! Needless to say I was not happy. Not much could be done about it, they changed their whole flight times.

:sohappy: I'll never fly Delta.
They've lost my business for life. Plus, ATL is a horrid airport. Plus, I'm sure you learned about the mileage runner they left stranded at MCO then refused to refund.

Delta's crappiness is sorta my windfall. I got stuck in ATL once and grabbed some $500 vouchers to wait a few hours.

Being a sorta-broke college student who likes to travel, I just hop around with some flexbility and anytime they offer to make me wait and fork over vouchers, I grab them - cuz they're constantly overbooked.

If i need to be somewhere though, I either take a direct fly (no layovers or connections) with Delta or I fly with someone else. I paid i think near $300 more to fly Continental for my upcoming trip to the UK. I'd rather have the continental miles and service then worry about getting stuck.

I guess I'm not as much of a as you... their lack of reliability is only part of my reason I'm not flying them anymore.

Good advise but one other point. NEVER say, "I'll never fly your airline again", even if you won't. Once they think they've lost a customer, they have no financial incentive to make you happy. Instead say something like, "Whenever I fly I try to use [name of airline] and I've never had this kind of problem before." I also find being sympathetic to the agent helps with something like, "I know it's not your fault the schedule changed and you're just the unlucky one who got to answer my call, but surely you can understand why I'm frustrated."

PERFECT!!

It really helps in these icky situations if the each person involved can see the other as human. Acknowledging that the agent is in a tough situation will help the agent recognize your problem.

A little consideration goes a long way.
(Why do so few people realize it??)

a little consideration is hard to come by when the problem repeats itself with regularity
