they've been closing a lot of them. They've already shut down complete markets (Puerto Rico is gone, so is Australia)

When they closed the Warner Brothers' store last year at our mall, the Disney employee told me they would be closing their store in 2003. It still is open, but who knows how long. I guess just like WB, they might be stretching their wings a little too much. As a stockholder of Disney, I should check out their annual statements a little more closely and see where they are spending their (my) money on.:brick:

Cleveland has 3 Disney stores to my knowledge. The one in Tower City closed and the one in Great Northern (my friends mom works there) is closing their Gallery Store.

ME MAD!

This deserves a mad Segway face....

Lived and visit Cleveland all the time. Went this past Christmas. Loads of fun. The Mentor one is in South Park mall, right? That's where I found that Stitch doll for my sister.

CLEVELAND ROCKS!

Actually, while I really hate to see the Disney Stores close, I personally would rather see them close as opposed to suffering thru the down-grades....

Boston's Faneuil Hall Marketplace store closed.

(but not because of lack of sales) The lease ran out and Boston is in the middle of a major "re-development" (because of the Big Dig) and Disney didn't want to keep the store open because of the word of a new "waterfront" area...which will take business away from that marketplace.

Copley Place Disney Store is still open (and not too far away)

The Faneuil Hall Disney Store closed?!!

Oh well... The Disney Stores are starting to irk me - they are getting rid of all of their collectible merchandise, it seems, and just putting racks upon racks of clothes and stuffed animals and such... I want those collectibles!!!  :D

Oh well......:(

Yep, they closed the big two story one...the only one in Boston is the little tiny one inside Copley Place.

Silver City Galleria and South Shore Plaza still have them and I know for a fact that the large one with the gallery in Natick is still open (and they have collectibles)

Testtrack! That really surprised me! I liked that store, and I love that mall. Argghhh.

Well, so far the Chesterfield Towne Center location (Midlothian Tnpk. and Huguenot Rd.) is still open. You can get there from Regency by going South on Parham Rd. and going across the Willey Bridge (where it becomes Chippenham Parkway), then exiting and turning right onto Huguenet Rd. Chesterfield Towne Center will be on your left a few miles up.

Do you know if the Virginia Center Commons location closed?

The one in VCC is still open, I think. Hopefully the new mall will have one.

But anyway, the wierd part was that there was no notice or anything. It was we went to William Sonoma and looked up towards where the Disney Store usualy is, and THERE WAS A HUGE GREY WALL! I was like "AHAHAHAHAH!!!"

That is a surprise. The one in Regency had a much better music selection than VCC. VCC is still there, i don't think it'll go anywhere, it is the largest one in the Richmond area. Of course that's not saying much now that there are only two.

I can, however, see Disney's logic. Regency is too expensive for stores to operate. VCC is much cheaper on rent. Also Regency has been losing shoppers. Once Short Pump opens, Regency will struggle big time!

I went this past weekend to pre-order the new Zelda: Wind Waker and they have posted up in the middle plans of a total re-hab. Looks nice, but Short Pump will kill it with their Nortstrums and all the nice upperclass stores (and an Apple store!!!)

I still think Regency will compete well. It is surrounded by great demographics and is a two-story mall (hence, less walking for shoppers than the one-story malls elsewhere around Richmond). All they need to do is keep it current in renovations, and have different stores from Short Pump. It is still a nicer mall than VCC, although Chesterfield Towne Center (and soon Stoney Pointe) do give it a run for its money.

If they don't keep up, though, all they need to do is look at Cloverleaf for a lesson....

I still am discouraged about that Disney Store, however... I will miss it, but like others on this board, I already mourned the passing of Disney stores with unique merchandise and not just stuffed animals and trinkets. The collectible merchandise is what set them apart from the toy sections of Wal-Mart, anyway!
