I am actully glad to see another play area. For years my husband and i went to Disney world as a family of two. We were able to ride all of the e-ticket rides together and never think twice. Now that we have a two year old, we have to ride them separately. It is nice for me to have a place to take our son to play while dad rides Space Mountain. It also gives us a place to break from standing in lines. If you have ever done that all day with a two year old, then you should be able to see how a play area like this can be utilized and appreciated.

I agree 100%. My 5 year old nephew is going to be going on his third trip to WDW this Spring and I can say that these little spots where the kids can blow off some steam while the parents (or other adult family members) get a chance to take a break from standing in lines are wonderful. We are taking 4 kids - ages 6, 5, 2 & 2 - this Spring. These spots are going to keep us all sane.

Heading for the great escape.
If you dont like it do as I do and just bypass that bit of the park. Now for me theres nio need to go past star traders or the carosel, as nothing in between is of interest.

Although many can not see the need for a playground area, I disagree. The toddler group will really love and appreciate this area and it will also give parents (or other adult superviser) and nice rest period from the "i want", "can we", "but you said", "I need" ramble of the day.

I agree... (I am getting sick of seeing all of this Pooh stuff all over)

And seriously...how many people go to the MAGIC KINGDOM to play on a playground!?!?!?!?! I don't care if the play ground is themed or not!!! (I am almost 100% certain)They have something very similar over by Splash Mountain....is that used to capacity so often that they need another themed playground??? That would be pretty shocking! Waste of money! Lack of creativity/management on Disney's end once again!

Well, the kids seem to love it. There's nothing wrong with that. Anyways, it's not like the playground is huge or anything. It's very small.

Msot of disney is geared at the middle school to adult crowd. What's the big deal about letting preschoolers and elementary schoolers have an attraction just for them?

...because it was a fun, light hearted ride.

Nothing more fun and light-hearted than going to hell, right?

Anyway... I've had about enough of all this whining, and enough of people saying things like the title of this thread... the 20k lagoon has been sitting there, decaying before our eyes for YEARS now... Disney FINALLY did the right thing and filled it in, then cleared the area out. They could have left it at that, but no, they made the extra effort and decided to add a very tasteful and appropriately themed/placed playground.

Just to clarify, we now have a nice, new, tasteful addition. On top of this, we also have a huge amount of open land ready for the MK's next big attraction... Seems like a win-win to me.

I applaud Disney on this one, while it seems like 60% of the people on these boards just want to whine about it. Those of you who can't even recognize progress when you see it don't deserve a brand new e-ticket, in my opinion.

POOHKILLEDTOAD, I absolutely LOVE your screen name and avatar, I have been bitter since it happened. I still refuse to ride the Pooh ride, I will NEVER go on that ride.

I am bitter as well about the 20,000 Leagues area being turned into yet another Pooh themed area :fork: I want that darn bear out of my disneyworld! I know the 20,000 Leagues area wasn't being used for more than a meet and greet, but I want something better there!

What are these other "Pooh themed areas" that you speak of?

Please read the above comments and the rest of the threads on this. PPS only takes up about 10% of the 20K area! THERE IS SO MUCH ROOM LEFT! BE PATIENT AND YOU WLL GET AN E-TICKET! STOP WHINING! :fork:

Disney wouln't do anything if there wasn't a demand for it. Therefore, there must have been a demand for a play area for little kids to run around in, located in or near Fantasyland. Sure, there's something similar (though a lot smaller) under Splash Mountain, but is the parent of an overly-hyper kid in need of some sort of energy release going to hike all the way across the park to Splash Mountain? There's still a ton of land left where 20KLUTS was, and I'd imagine there is demand for a new E-ticket in the MK. Plus, WDW is going to be coming off of a huge media extravaganza (HCOE) next year, so wouldn't that be the perfect time to make a major announcement to keep WDW fresh in everyone's minds?

20K is the abbreviation for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It was a submarine ride in the recently filled-in lagoon that used to be opposite the Winnie the Pooh ride.

I haven't seen the pooh thing yet but I would rather have that than nothing.

20K was closed for like 5 years before they finally got rid of it

I heard that one of the old submarines form 20k was "sunk" out in lake buena vista, or by epcot(not sure) so you could snorkel out by it.
