Its great to see Tomorrowland get some TLC... the neon on these panels looks fantastic and I don't remember them ever being like that.

^The night photo looks like there is neon on the panels, but it is simply a reflection of lights pointing up at them. While most of the neon has remained neon, there have been some small lighting upgrades to LED lights including up at Astro Orbiter, inside Carousel of Progress, and on the Tomorrowland Chamber of Commerce sign to name a few.

The fire?
What fire?
When?
Where?
How?

Quoting Wikipedia: "On October 9, 2011, a fire broke out in the centerpiece of the attraction structure. Authorities reported that the fire was caused by a light bulb that shorted out and started to smolder. The incident occurred shortly after the park had opened for the day, and no guests were aboard the ride when the fire was discovered. The attraction re-opened the following day."

Tomorrowland has been recieving a quiet refurbishment for the past year or so now. While we haven't seen full blown major work, there are a number of things that have been refurbished, repainted, or freshened up. These are not in any order by date or anything but covers stuff since 2011.
-Tomorrowland Bridge railings receive additions to prevent guests from siting on them.
-Tomorrowland Chamber of Commerce Sign Refurbished
-Panels on top of Stitch's Great Escape Refurbished
-Fastpass machines removed at Stitch's Great Escape
-TV monitors inside Stitch's Great Escape are upgraded to flatscreen TVs.
-General cleaning on theaters inside of Stitch's Great Escape and fixed "hot wire" effect
-TV monitors inside Monsters Inc Laugh Floor are upgraded to flatscreen TVs.
-Monsters Inc Laugh Floor receives Fastpass+ resulting in queue changes including new wall divider
-Monsters Inc Laugh Floor receives new skits and references to Monsters University
-Black lightpoles in front of Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin Refurbished one-by-one
-The Lunching Pad neon signage refurbishment
-Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin receives Fastpass+ resulting minor queue changes including new wall divider
-Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin had minor refurbishment resulting in general cleaning, new flooring in queue, repainting of walls in queue, etc.
-Buzz Meet & Greet receives minor additions to flooring where Buzz stands
-Carousel of Progress signage refurbished
-Carousel of Progress had minor refurbishment resulting in general cleaning, new carpet in some theaters, repainting of interior trim, new audio-animatronic skins and cosmetics, and LED lighting.
-Peoplemover receives some TLC including LED lighting (although color changing lights discontinued for safety), name change (2010), and narration (2010).
-Peoplemover track has seen repainting at station, exterior of track, and certain handrails.
-Peoplemover cars receive rotated refubishment with fresh paint and new seat padding.
-City of Tomorrow refurbished along Peoplemover track.
-Astro Orbiter planets stop spinning (March 2011) and are removed (November 2011).
-Astro Orbiter gets new gates, railing, and floor on top platform. LED lighting also later added.
-Astro Orbiter rockets receive rotated refurbishment with fresh paint.
-Robo-News Guy refurbished (He talks again.)
-Metrophone Phone Booth refurbished.
-Granite Floating Water Ball refurbished/concrete work.
-Concrete work around Metal Palm Trees
-Tomorrowland Stage receives additional LED lighting upgrades.
-Space Mountain receives Fastpass+
-Space Mountain rockets receive rotated refurbishment with fresh seat padding.
-New Face Painting location near Space Mountain restrooms.
-Push the Talking Trashcan can play various music clips now.
-Disney Vacation Club kiosk receives new signage and new floor padding.
-Tomorrowland Speedway receives Fastpass+ results in queue changes including entirely reconfigured queue with wall divider.
-Tomorrowland Speedway first banked curve receives fresh paint.
-Tomorrowland Speedway cars receive rotated refurbishment with fresh paint, new mechanical components, and new padding especially to steering wheels.
-Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe gets LED monitors for menu displays.

Those are all the things I can remember changing over the past couple years. The most notable changes have been additions for Fastpass+, fresh paint across the land, and general refurbishment of removable theme elements like the panels. From what future rumors are saying, there are even more to come with Space Mountain getting exterior work and Astro, TTA, and possible CoP going down for extensive refurbishments next year.

You think we'll see the astro planets spinning again?

.
Why is it always something catching on fire that makes them do nearly anything productive.

Let's just hope that no one tumbles down the outside of the mountain-ala DL style!

(Just noticed that after 11+ years, this is post 1000 for me.....call me a little slow)

I don't think I've hit 1000 between the old forum software (when we all lost our counts back around 2000-2001 sometime) and this version, in 12-13 years. You're not all that slow.

Not sure.

@rct247 What is a rotated refurbishment? Where they take the ride cars backstage one by one or what?

Yes, it's where they swap vehicles out to refurbish them. Most attractions do this on a consistent basis to the point that most people don't notice it or they take it for granted. It can be something as simple as changing out ripped seats or touching up paint or working on the mechanical components for inspection logs.

Maybe because I just woke up, but I was imagining some kind of mechanical floating tree covered in magnifying glasses.
