The wheelies of death!!!

Or at least that's what I tend to call them because with the season rolling on by, pun intended, I seem to be seeing more and more of those shoes that make me roar!!!

For one, they're not allowed in the parks. Period!! As cast members we're told to ask the guest to please pop out the wheelies and put them away.

Simple as that right? right??

Wrong! I get everything from

"They're not skates, so don't worry about it."
" It's a free Country" (no it isn't, this is property owned so follow the rules)
"my kids don't have to listen to anything you say"
"F off!!"
"We know!!" ( so why haven't you taken them off then? )
"excuse me?"
"oh, okay"
"they're not doing anything wrong"
"mind your own business"
"No one told us anything in the front" (it's common sense though, if bikes and skateboards aren't allowed in the parks, why would they make an exception for wheelies?? )

You all get the point. Today I was over at Visa Meet and Greet over in innoventions west and I told this kid to not use the wheelies in the park. He said "sorry" and his father didn't even tell him anything.

I got bumped off to tipboard and I saw him once more and this time I stopped him and his family and told him that he seriously needs to pop those out and they're not allowed in the park. His father gave me this look like he wanted to murder me I swear!!

Why is it that when we tell the kids something, some of the parents actually do start yelling at the child like it's their fault? Aren't the parents to blame when they're the ones that bought them those shoes in the first place??

Same thing happens when they start climbing the "innoventions jungle gym" I walk over there to tell them to get off and the parents start yelling at the child just so they can look good in front of me. Ummm that didn't help one bit considering I saw you across from tipboard a long time ago and you weren't telling him nothing then.

See what I mean??

We're not telling quest just for the you know what of it. Disney's first priority is safety so please if you have children, or you know someone that has children with these wheelies, don't bother taking them to DISNEY WORLD. THEY'RE NOT ALLOWED.

Does anyone else have any interesting stories with the wheelies from the darkside??

Does anyone else wish those weren't made? Do you think they belong in the parks??

I dislike them as well. Simply because 9x out of 10 the person using them is inconsiderate and could care less how it affects the people around them.

Security should start checking the bottom of kids shoes at the front gate and make them take the wheels out before they enter the park.

I can understand your frustration...

however I hardly equate the wheelie shoes with in-line skates, roller skates or skateboards. For one the speed and distance are limitted and the correct position has to be held rather precisely. Second despite my concerns in airports I have yet to see one kid lose control or bump into anyone - I'm sure it happens but not as often as I expected. Third their's no projectile to pop out and slam into someone like a skateboard.

Now let's talk about electric wheelchairs and the mobility carts. Those are the things which should be speed limitted or banned. I've been hit by each on many occasions due to negligence. I witnessed an attempted hit and run on the Adventureland bridge where a woman was run down and her husband chased down the cart driver while his wife bled profusely.

Of course logic has nothing to do with it. Disneyland banned camera tri-pods. How many people have you seen hurt by one of those?

Probably a good thing to make it more publicly known they are not welcomed but I wouldn't lose sleep over the disrespectful ones who wear them anyway. We'll just all walk linked hand in hand and dare them to make it through :)

yeah whoever invented those damn shoes should be hurt real bad, they are annoying as all hell anywhere.

I think that the man has made it easier for kids to cry child abuse is the leading cause for such horrible kids these days, back in the day if I ever did anything like this I would be smacked rightside the head, parents need to start beating kids again when they act out and don't behave, and need to understand how to tell their kids NO.

I'm not losing sleep over that, but it's common sense, no respect whatsoever. Point is, they still have wheels and at epcot it's been different. I see children bump into people all the time and fall down on their rear end a lot. And it seems that the parents recently got them because they're learning how to use them while in the parks. It's just rude and downright annoying. Having children skid by you in circles and running and skidding,....no. Disney will not allow that type of horseplaying.

Same thing when it rains, people tend to leave their minds at home because they start skimming through water....you know, when they run and then slide?? Ummm...... that's seriously dangerous but they still do it. They're just not acceptable at the parks. Even super markets have banned them....seriously...just because they won't slam as hard, or people don't get hurt as much is like giving it an excuse. Disney isn't going to be risking it.

Kinda like saying "oh, I'm holding onto you so you'll be safe while standing on the railings" It still can happen though and I've seen it happen and when it does, we're going to have a big "we told you so" ready.

Wow, you are trying to equate something that is medically necessary to something that is a fad. Give me a break.

A-FREAKING-MEN, beat the children, my parents beat me and I turned out normal lol. I plan on spanking my kids, grounding kids is a waste of time with all the stuff kids have these days so im just going to spank and say "this is going to hurt me more then it hurts you."

Im not for abusing children, but there is nothing wrong with spanking. But, you have to show love and compassion as well. Do both, and your children will respect you.

I've seen this in the park and it still boggles my mind!! :lookaroun

I've seen the parents yell and the top of their lungs, spank them, tell them to behave and grab them harshly and seconds after that, they'll hug them and they'll them it's okay....

I'm seriously at that point going ...... I was not raised like that. I would be seriously thinking..."weren't you just yelling at me?" " now you're hugging me?" o_O

I got the bejesus smacked out of me and I learned my lesson. Nowadays it's a pat in the butt. Yet, they still get away with everything!!

But anyhow, yeah....that's just me. No more OT....LOL

Anyone that lets their kids uses these without a helmet and other protection is a bad parent who doesn't care about the saftey of their kids. And since I've never seen a kid with these ridiculous things and a helmet...

Commence flames, but it's the truth.

Maybe I should have been more specific, but I agree that right after the spanking is not the time to show huggy fuzzy love. I think children need to know that you are not automatically and easily forgiven for their actions. My kids know that if they misbehave and I get upset with them because of their behavior, that just because I have had to discipline them that does not mean that everything is ok with the world and we can hold hands and sing Ba Ya (sp???). They need to demonstrate the proper behavior for a while before I get in the huggy fuzzy mood.

No you're right and it's the truth! I've seen parents let kids do whatever they want. I was doing illuminations tonight and a child was sitting ontop of the pillar on mexico bridge!!! I'm like off now!! And they didn't think twice. I told them not to do it again. They climb on rails, go under ropes, and I've seen the parents do the same things so now we know where the kids are getting it from.

I see these kids EVERYWHERE. And they're always doing that one little move where they pop up one heel, like they think they're a freaking 9 year old Evil Knievel. I would love to trip one of them...

(Maybe I'm just jealous I never had them as a kid. I hope I don't give into my kid wanting a pair of rocket shoes.)

And the Brits think us Yanks are rude. They could have at least had the decency to go over to the UK pavillion and use the Mary Poppins topiary.

and it had to be those brits

so you think all english people act the same.

or should i say people in glass houses shoudn't through stones.

very fine words from a country that has killed so many people and tried to lay its moral high ground rules around the world and walked over quiet a load of countries.

it was a idiot who was a english/scot more like it/welsh man/or irish man to that case not just brits.

what i was trying to say and i love americans it is not fair or polite to say a counrty has done wrong because of one person and what you have said is rasist to all english men and you should chose your words more carefully in future and not go and slag a nation of by i bad person and there son.

I'm pretty sure that they were just joking. A little sarcasim. Don't take it so personally. I don't think that everyone is thinking that all british people use public plants to relieve themselves.

it is still not nice to say this about another nation even in fun the person should apolagise for the rude ness about his comment on this matter because i did take offense about what was said about my country.
