But then Arbys decided they did not want to sponsor the attaction... so WDI scratched out their name.

Yep...what I think?
They wanted a themed directional sign, and thought having the Mansion's name crossed out and renamed Haunted would fit the bill.
The name...meaningless. Completely. No story there at all.

Well see there was this fence post in the sign, but then they removed it and it kind of looks like a word. That's the word the bride yelled when she threw the fence post at the sign. She was yelling for Kerri Gastley*, a wedding photographer. See she killed her husband and was planning to marry again, so she needed a photographer for the wedding. She threw the ring and it was stuck in the path, then she called for her photographer. They put the name on the sign so she would know where to go. Lets see that bit of fan back story stick

* Kerry Gastley photography is the first entry that came up when Googling "Gastley"
