BURBANK, Calif. (July 8, 2005) -- The Walt Disney Company, Roy E. Disney and Stanley P. Gold announced today that they have agreed to put aside the differences that have characterized their relationship over the past several years. Messrs. Disney and Gold have agreed not to run a rival slate of directors or submit shareholder resolutions for the next five years. Messrs. Disney and Gold have also agreed to dismiss all their pending lawsuits against the Company. In reestablishing ties with him and his family, the Company has named Roy E. Disney Director Emeritus and a consultant. The Company also reaffirmed its commitment to the rotation of committee members and chairpersons on its Board committees as currently required by the Company's Corporate Governance Guidelines. In putting aside their differences, the Company noted Mr. Disney's long time devotion to the Company and welcomed the reestablishment of a relationship with him and his family. Messrs. Disney and Gold expressed confidence in Mr. Iger's leadership, and as Mr. Eisner retires after 21 years with the Company, they acknowledged his contribution to the Company over the years.

Very strange...it's almost like a full turnaround. Iger really is wooing a lot of people to his side. Hopefully He'll prove it was warranted.

Wow- unexpected! It looks like the war is really over. Concessions were apparently made on both sides, but I think it's rather obvious that the victory clearly lies with Roy and Stan.

Has Disney been 'saved'? Well, in respect to many of their goals, definitely... but entirely? That's largely dependent on Iger's performance, as well as what Roy is able to do inside the company... we shall see. I still have large misgivings over Iger, but I do think I feel better about him than Eisner.

I, personally, am delighted. I think both sides have much to be ashamed of over the last few years, and welcome a breathing space for Iger to have a chance to establish his management style. I hope he and Steve Jobs get along!

I completely agree! This definitely seems to be a huge and wonderful step in the right direction, but only time will tell what it really means. When Eisner first joined the team, he put the company back on top...but I think we all know by now what eventually happened there. Iger seems to be trying to put things right again, and I'm crossing my fingers (for Roy's, Stan's, and the company's sake) that he'll continue to do that. At first I wasn't at all happy about Iger being CEO...but, maybe he'll be alright after all! I certainly hope so!

And hopefully you're right, Swamp Fox, and Pixar will indeed be next.
Wasn't Iger already talking with Pixar when he was first named to take over the CEO position? Are they still in talks, or has that died down?

Congrats to all sides. I'm glad they could put aside their troubles and get along.

Perhaps this is all leading to another Disney Decade.

Wow, I don't even know what to say about this...

I'm glad that the tension has subsided a bit and they can finally agree on some things.

:lookaroun I don't know something sounds funny about this. Don't get me wrong if this is what it seems it sounds great. But I think as loyal supporters of Roy we deserve to hear something straight from him. And making him "Director Emeritus" and consultant seems kind of empty. Like now Roy agreed to this and then oh well that was just to make you happy and shut up Roy now we are going to do what we want.

I hope I am wrong. :veryconfu

I agree. It does sound some what fishy. Good for now, but fishy.

Does that mean that the entire SaveDisney web page will stop?? Since Roy is back on the Company...

Did you notice the opinion poll was already removed?

It looks like once your on the company, there's no need for criticism?!?!
Through the opinion polls, he knew what we thought, but now it's gone...

He isn't "back"on the company... WDC only reestablished ties with him and his family, the Company has named Roy E. Disney Director Emeritus... that's it...

"Director Emeritus" means nothing more than "the guy who used to be director"
It's nothing more than a tittle...

He just wanted to be known as "a" real Disney... Well we knew that alright!
