Trian announced their campaign six months ago. Coincidence?
Peltz has been trying to get a seat for over a year now and the last big spike in the stock's price coincided with the last quarterly earnings call in February. You want to draw some correlation between Peltz and the stock price, but it's not there. If people are really dumping the stock because they fear he's going to lose and the stock is still outperforming the market on the day you make this assertion then he's really not much of a factor, is he?

Does Disney have any live-action movies or major series in production other than Tron 3? Feels like they’ve been slow-walking the startup post-strikes which I’d guess is helping their financials.

A quick glance around the web and it looks like they have...

Currently in Pre-production:
  • Fantastic Four
  • Blade
  • Avengers
  • Mando movie
  • Shang-Chi

Currently in production:
  • Captain America
  • Thuderbolts
  • Tron

Currently in post:
  • Deadpool
  • Snow White
  • Avatar 3
  • Alien: Romulus

There are a bunch more that have been announced but it is unknown where they stand in the production schedule right now that I left off and I am sure I have missed some as well.

Captain America’s been in flux for months with reshoots going back to last year. Money is probably pretty scant on the financial ledgers for several of those pre-production titles. No idea how Disney’s financially committed to Avatar 3. But Elio must be already finished so that shouldn’t be significant.

Looks like Tron and Thunderbolts are the two biggies currently underway. Yikes.

I went back and removed Elio because it isn't live action but, if we were to include animated, Elio is in post along with Inside Out 2 which would mean Toy Story is likely in pre-production or about to be as they finish those two. The new Moana is currently in production while Frozen is in pre-production.

Beyond that who knows. I am sure there are smaller projects that don't generate enough buzz to be easy to track down but it will be interesting to see what they throw out there.

Searchlight has Kinds of Kindness from Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone, A Real Pain, and The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat in the can. They have Chalamet as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown and Brendan Fraser in Rental Family filming now. Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman in a remake of War of the Roses is in pre-production.

At 20th they have the Rami Malek thriller The Amateur and Alien: Romulus in post. They are filming the James L Brooks comedy Ella McCay. They have a film about the founder of Bumble, another Predator, and the third Kingsman in pre-production.

So yes, they have quite a lot in production.

Really trying to hold out hope for TRON since I liked legacy so much. It not being a true sequel is such a mistake though.

Why is nobody expressing skepticism about Iger supposedly pulling ahead according to the WSJ? There was plenty when WSJ was reporting Trian supposedly being ahead.

Speaking for myself, I don't take any stock in reporting from unnamed sources. What I do take stock in is the fact that BlackRock and T Rowe Price expressed their vote for the company slate. That to me is significant.

They who? Not sure your point here as they just gained possession of FF in MCU. I believe you will see major FF, X-men an Avengers sightings and action leading to a major story line IMO.
It’s gotta get there first

They need xmen like yesterday

The next couple MCU movies are thoroughly planted in the “flop to meh” category

Disney has been rising for at least the past 6 months and has outperformed all 3 indexes over that span, so the past month has nothing to do with Peltz. There's a reason why he's not getting support from some heavy hitters in that world. His past performance gives no indication that he's some savior for Disney.

Disney product and the last financial release were not good if you pick through it. It was just spun that way by Spinderella Bob.

…and they know their audience if you read through these posts.

It’s gonna be a show tomorrow 🎆🎇🎆

Even if you want to make the case that the Financials weren't as good as Bob spun them, it still doesn't make Peltz the cause of the increase when the biggest spike lin3s up with the quarterly earnings call. If you think people shouldn't have believed what that call told them, then that's a different matter entirely from the point I was rebutting.

Sure it does

He’s been not too subtlety promising to juice the stock price. Free money coming…pump it up

Apologies if this was posted

Full article...

Peltz’s Trian controls some 32 million Disney shares (1.8% of the outstanding total), 79% of which are owned by former Marvel Entertainment chief Ike Perlmutter (who has a “longstanding personal agenda” against Iger, according to Disney).
Two of Disney’s institutional investors — BlackRock (which owns about 4.2% of outstanding shares) and T. Rowe Price (0.5%) — are supporting the company’s slate of directors, which includes Iger, per the Journal, citing anonymous sources.

Again, if the "Peltz is losing!" stock dump means that the price dropped less than the major indexes dropped on a down day, then he wasn't a big factor. If anything, you could say that after rumors of Peltz losing leaked, Disney outperformed the market and therefore the only reason it didn't drop more is because of market optimism about Peltz's failure.
